Re: Restart Download reverts file name to same as file on se
Ok, well, these are "regular" downloads, not torrents or anything like that. In fact, I don't use FDM for anything other than regular downloading. 90% of everything I download are drivers for HP computers (I'm an IT tech and part of my job for the company I work for is setup and roll-out o...

Re: Restart Download reverts file name to same as file on se
I think restarting download in FDM always worked automatically so it never used filenames changed manually. If you download and use v3.8 from the main site's download section, it will retain the custom file name when you restart it. BTW. In general options available in "Add download" wind...

Apologies for the delay...
Pick one. There isn't any specific one.

Restart Download reverts file name to same as file on server
Specifically: Downloaded a bunch of drivers off from HP's website. They came down corrupted. Deleted the corrupt files, then went into FDM and hit "Restart Download" one at a time on them. Saved file name from Download Properties reverted from the custom name I applied back to it's default...

Re: FDM 3.9.2
Dear all, Our programmers are diligently working to rectify all the issues related to the video downloading in our next releases. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Random question... while I realize you guys would like to cut down on the number of threads floating around, wouldn't it be be...

Re: Video d/l workaround - split audio/video & errors
Phase of moon, indeed. I just retried it today and got the split audio file and 80+ Mb HD video file. I'm sure the splicing would work at this point. Either way, though, this seems to me to be a bug either with the way YouTube handles some of their videos, the way FDM downloads them, or both. Hearin...

Re: Video d/l workaround - split audio/video & errors
FotS: If you have a link to a SMALL one you can't get, some of us could try it. Not sure what is "small" to you, but if you hit the 3rd link in your OP, that's my thread. The second link I posted in there is the one that's not working for me anymore. I don't typically download vids, so I ...

Re: Video d/l workaround - split audio/video & errors
All well and good except the converting of the video (even using the exact settings you suggested) still results in video degradation. I also tried a few other formats and settings and they were still degraded. WMV format seems to keep it the best... but at this point it's moot for me. FDM isn't eve...

Re: Help in understanding video downloads
I might be inclined to agree, except my issue isn't with the mp4s. The first video gives me mp4s and flvs, all of which play fine. The second video only gives me flvs, of which none work. Also, today, it doesn't seem to matter how hard I try, I cannot get FDM to download the HD version of the video....

Re: Help in understanding video downloads
Yup... now FDM doesn't even work with FF anymore.... *sigh* FF reporting extension incompatible. EDIT: Ok, fixed extension issue. Removed then re-added. :? Only got 1 download link this time off from second video, but it was not the HD version (23 MB) and was still soundless. It also seems as though...

Re: Help in understanding video downloads
Ok, so to try an narrow this down, I deleted all of the downloaded videos and cleared them from FDM history (so I wouldn't be prompted with repeat download). Here's the results: First: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ToztqqDcaY Once YouTube starts playing it, I change the quality to 720p (HD) and t...

Re: Help in understanding video downloads
Profound apologies on the delay... so much was happening I completely forgot about this post... At the time, 3.9.2 1287, although today I'm being prompted to update to 1289. I can give that a try and see if it still does the same thing. EDIT: Ok, so still getting the multiple download links, but at ...

Help in understanding video downloads
Hi, Need a little help in understanding downloading videos via FDM. Specifically, the 2 videos I've tried downloading are these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ToztqqDcaY https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=QyYbvVAtlWk&NR=1 For the first, FDM downloads 2 copies of the video (altho...

Well, I've fixed it. Required uninstalling/reinstalling FDM. Must've been something that got screwed up when updating the versions.

Re: Free Download Manager FireFox plugin
Turtle, While not a solution, something else to note, is that you can leave FF integration enabled at all times and if it is something you want FF to handle downloading, then when FDM's download window pops open, just hit the ESC key (or the Cancel button) and it will close and FF's download dialog ...
