Re: Output format unsatisfactory
In addition to the requirements listed in my post, I've discovered that in Chrome's Manage Extensions, enabling 'allow access to file URLs' makes 'download with FDM' show in the Context menu of a video. In all, it is a VERY complex/demanding process to get useful results - a process that I have not ...

FDM stopped working
Having set browser integration and installed the elephant plug-in in the latest version of Chrome, I was able to do one download but now the 'download with FDM' no longer appears in the context menu of a video webpage. How can I restore functionality ? I discovered that the PC needed to be rebooted ...

Re: Output format unsatisfactory
In spite of the breakthrough I posted on May 22, the 'successful' method I described now gives me m3u8 output (originally I could only get HTML or FM). The guy that recommended FDM to me says that it is totally straightforward. From the same URL, he (in Britain) can get video output, where I (in Aus...

Re: Output format unsatisfactory
After much anguished research and trialing, I discovered the following : Free Download Manager must be running (in the background) and have Browser Integration set in Preferences, and Elephant add-on installed. Then right-click in the page where the medium (video/audio) is playing; and the context m...

Re: Output format unsatisfactory
It is unclear to me what your reply is meant to convey. If it is that ONLY html is available, that is contradicted by the fact I myself have been able to download an MP3 from it, using an unconventional means; moreover the person I mentioned in my first post could get FDM to output an MP3. My concer...

Re: Output format unsatisfactory
An example URL would be https://unsw.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3563e7000dd06943f1a5b1498&id=c116236800&e=3b1d6e94ae What I can get from FDM is HTML - what I want is MP3. The one who can succeed with FDM says he gets a 'Save As' option from the context menu of the website. I do not. ...

Output format unsatisfactory
A friend who is happy with its results, recommended FDM to me. He can't or wont tell me the right steps to follow to get the good results he gets. With his help, I did set Browser Integration but my results are still HTML or FM rather than MP3 or MP4 formats. Could I please get a detailed series of ...

Re: video files elusive
I managed to download the video whose URL is above, but using 'the old reliable method' - so maybe there is an intermittent 'fault'. In any case, thank you for the new resources.
Even though I had ticked 'Notify me when a reply is posted' I did NOT receive an email alerting me to your reply.

video files elusive
As reported before, I became aware of FDM's merits when it could download a YouTube that IDM and VDH could not. But since then, most of the downloads have been in hmtl format instead of one of the numerous video formats. I KNOW it can do better, but HOW to trigger that escapes me. I'd love to be tol...

Re: downloading non-torrents
To StormJumper
The earliest version I installed was 5.1.17.4597 but that was 14 Sep 2016 - well before my question.
The two methods that failed when FDM succeeded with YouTube, were IDM and VDH.
I found an adequate 'drop-target' workaround.
I can't 'interpolate' what FYI might stand for.

Re: downloading non-torrents
I must have not ticked the box for 'Notify me when a reply is posted' because only now that I am back in the forum do I find that a reply was sent. I have corrected that now. Apologies. The issue was 3 months ago, so I can not supply the requested information. I have several new questions, and will ...

video files elusive
I first became aware of the merits of this software in downloading a Youtube that other methods could not. However, now I have tried it again, and it seems to recognize ONLY torrents ! I could not paste or drag a URL into the 'drop-target' area. Can anyone help me over this blockage ?
