Rating extremely short and zero-character translations
"Hey, why did you give me a less then perfect rating for all those short translations I just did" - I was recently asked. He was right to be concerned, there is no set rule for rating translations which are: a) Extremely short translations - when, say, only one or two lines, out of, for example, 10 ...

Re: Let me guess
But there are some possible reasons for a manager to act this way. For example, jealousy. You don´t want a translator to become a manager, to mantain your current position. Then, you give him bad rates. Suppose you don´t like chileans, or mexicans. Anything is possible. Let me guess... Is your mana...

Let me state this: you´re not my manager. Nothing here is personal. But there are some possible reasons for a manager to act this way. For example, jealousy. The manager has absolute power over the translator. My friend, I\'m not just being rhetorical when I say that nothing in this world is absolute. He can rate your translations very low, without giving any reason. He can delay your translations approval or send again them to you for rechecking, somet...

I think that most translators have the same problem: their managers are too busy, or too lazy. Whatever, the result is the same: they take several days to approve (or reject) our translations. Maybe that´s not a problem for them. Providing they´re too busy, and obtaining their income from every tra...

Woohoo! A posting named after me! Anyway, Guest , I'm terribly sorry for this delay. For communication's sake I must tell you that your translations are among the most time consuming. Besides you usually reserving the longer software descriptions, your translations are not always quite right, yet th...

Interesting. Well, while the server is being updated, I\'ll add a few errors I found myself. In Audio y Video : Burners de CD should be Quemadores de CD . Desfragmentadores y Conversores should be Defragmentadores y Conversores . Discurso should be Habla In Negocios : Math y Herramientas Científicas...

Firefox has a standard, built-in spell checker. The Spanish dictionary is a complement which works along with the spell checker. So all you need to do to get Firefox to do spell checking in Spanish is to install the Spanish dictionary. You can get it (as well as other dictionaries) at the following ...

Firefox dictionary add-on, spell-checker
Mozilla Firefox has a Spanish dictionary add-on that works its spell-checking feature, thus assisting in detecting spelling errors. It's not smart enough to be a professional translator's tool, so it's not entirely trustworthy, but it certainly detects little typos which everyone can make every now ...

Translator interface issues:Post them here or send bug rep.?
I assume whether a bug report is sent through the translator interface or a bug report is posted on the forum it still gets to the same place.
Is it more convenient if bugs are posted here? Or is it better if we use the interface's bug report window? Or both?

In the translator editor, the number of sentences counted does not correspond to the actual number of sentences displayed on the list. The number counted is always 1 less than the real number. For instance, I'm currently translating a software description of 17 sentences , but at the bottom of the l...

So, who makes the decision? I suppose that us, as users of the Spanish language, have the right to do what we must to avoid its bastardization. However, I think someone from FDM should come out and say something about it. After all, it's their software library. It's important because there are some ...
