For the download purpose I don't need a fat GUI but a leightweight smart, small tool.

As I noticed the Lite version remains over the last years on version 3.9.7 while the "full" version is meanwhile at v5.1.23

So it seems to me that the lite version will never be updated any more.

Is it deprecated?

Hmm, fiddling around with SUBST commnd might be a short-term work around.

However on the long run relative pathes should be possible.

Since it isn't be difficult to implement v5.x should contain this feature.

Assume I want to change the FDM settings.

Is it required to closed browsers (Firefox and IntExp) BEFORE I perform the change

Yes, in FDM I enabled monitoring Firefox for downloads but it doesn't work.
