Open registry editor and drill down to... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VicMan Software\Free Download Manager\Settings\Update In the right pane, change the "Auto" value to 0 Hi all - Is there any way to disable automatic checking for new versions? The reason I'm asking is because I noticed that wheneve...

This happens to me too (1.9/335). Could it be fixed, please? When Automatically delete completed downloads is checked, there is a slight glitch - when download is cleared, progress pane is not synchronized - stays full and blue when in downloads pane new download takes focus- i think that this is pr...

Yes, but that also breaks the "Check for updates now" option under "Help". You can also "break" the update function by changing the update address. Default is http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/update/. If you change that to http://127.0.0.1 (don't forget the http://) it wont work anymore because it...

In the registry, drill down to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VicMan Software\Free Download Manager\Settings\Update] On the right side, change Auto from 1 to 0 This is for v1.1, but it should be similar in v1.5 Of course, since I posted this, it will probably be changed in any future versions. Hopefull...

Thank you...thank you very much. You see the spyware crap was removed though, don't you. BTW...bring your little pansy ass here, and your anus will really hurt, because I'll put my foot in it. Man, I just love that dork. One day he spits at your face and calls you bad names; the day after he comes b...

Well, what have we here. FDM 1.5?

Let's see... The NavExcel Spyware is gone. GREAT! The "Make A Donation" button is no longer the main program feature. GREAT! I can set auto updates to manual in the registry. GREAT! I still liked the button style and size of the original, but the main issues were taken care of so, GREAT! The bottom ...

Problems with Windows XP SP2

This is not an FDM problem, but an issue with SP2. It seems Microsoft has limited the max number of connections per server to 4. I get this error in my event log after running FDM... "TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts" Not only is FDM affe...

Re: Don't be afraid ;-)

The registration dialog has been removed from the v1.0 release of FDM. The Browser User-Agent String problem has also been fixed. Thanks guys...I'll test it some more now. :D Well, I set my date on the computer 30 days from the day I installed it and the dialog box that Darren posted a screenshot of...

Yes, the Browser ID (User-Agent) String problem has been fixed. It shows FDM at the end of the string, but is implemented differently and does not cause any more webpage access errors. Thanks for addressing this problem. If I find anything else, I'll let it be known. 8) Dear users, We did some modif...

You can disable automatic updates in the registry. I have uninstalled FDM because it changed my user-agent string and keeps me from accessing some websites. If I remember correctly, look for a registry key called Vicman Software. You will see the settings for FDM in there. Look on the right pane for...

Re: Don't be afraid ;-)

That sounds great, Victor. I figured we better get this out in the open and over with. I knew the dialogs weren't activated, but I wanted to find out if they were going to stay that way. I don't mind paying for a quality application from an authors hard work, but I don't like to be mislead into thin...

Comment from administration: please, check message by Victor The registration dialogue has already been coded into the application. This looks like one of those "Bait and Switch" programs. We are being used as beta testers. I guess I'll reinstall FlashGet or Mass Downloader. I don't play those game...

Wow....

Where did this program come from? I just uninstalled FlashGet and switched to FDM. It is awesome. Now I better hush before it goes shareware.
Thanks!

BTW...is there an option to have FDM close when download is complete? I can't find it.
