Because only extension version 1.6.0.3 is compartable with firefox 29.0. You need to obtain it by redownload FDM install package, or simply do this: edit maxversion value in .rdf file in the extension directory. The code has no difference in fact

I'd like to say thank you for FDM. It works perfectly fine and the download capability for videos is awesome. FDM is far ahaed of all other Downloadmanager, thank you for giving it.

FYI, the following AV vendors are still flagging fdmumsp.dll as a trojan:
    Ad-Aware Gen:Trojan.Heur.LP.gu4@ai2aUxgk 20140429
    BitDefender Gen:Trojan.Heur.LP.gu4@ai2aUxgk 20140429
    Emsisoft Gen:Trojan.Heur.LP.gu4@ai2aUxgk (B) 20140429
    F-Secure Gen:Trojan.Heur.LP.gu4@ai2aUxgk 20140429
    GData Gen:Trojan.Heur.LP.gu4@ai2aUxgk 20140429
    MicroWorld-eScan Gen:Trojan.Heur.LP.gu4@ai2aUxgk 20140429
    Also HitmanPro
Shouldn't this have been reported to the vendors as false positives?

It would be far easier for FDM users if someone simply fixed the v3.9.4 installer to correct these problems and release it as a new build.

Firefox 30+ support is coming soon.

Thanks Victoria :) ,

Your news that "Firefox 30+ support is coming soon" is much appreciated".

Normally, I use the Firefox Version in its Beta Channel currently FF29 but it is due to be updated to FF30 Beta any day. I do not wish to lose FDM usage, so yesterday I installed Firefox 29 RELEASE version (currently only seems available on a few sites) to avoid FDM crashing with FF30 and above.

I look forward to the release of FDM (with FF30+ support)

Kind regards

Changes in the plugin location are still inconsistent and FDM installer does NOT remove all tracks of older locations so it's not enough. Even FDM FAQ suggestions are incomplete. You should now do as follows:
1. Turn off Firefox.
2. Turn off Firefox monitoring in FDM and turn off FDM.
3. Delete all 1.x.x subdirectories in ProgramData folder
4. Run regedit and delete two keys:

Code: Select all

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\FreeDownloadManager.ORG\Free Download Manager\Settings\Update\FirefoxExt
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FreeDownloadManager.ORG\Free Download Manager\Settings\Update\FirefoxExt
5. Run FDM again and turn on Firefox monitoring.

It should be OK now, but you can check content of fdm_ffext@freedownloadmanager.org file - it should contain now path to FDM subdirectory:
C:\Program Files\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extension - in 32-bit Windows
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extension - in 64-bit Windows

Repeat the same actions for every Windows user on this PC.

Top marks to Usher for his reply, which did indeed make FDM work with Firefox 29 for me. The only comment I would make is that, for Windows 7 64-bit, the second registry key to delete should be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\FreeDownloadManager.ORG\Free Download Manager\Settings\Update\FirefoxExt

Just saw on a few sites the Fire Fox 30 beta 1 is now out.

i had to kill firefox (it really often remains in memory).
now it's working : it asked me if i agreed with FDM extension 1.6.0.3.
thanks a lot for your suggestions (i only removed the old 1.6.0 version in ProgramData, and checked the firefox box in FDM settings).

Why is the latest version of FDM trying to connect to IP addresses in Moldova and Latvia? I have only just downloaded and installed this but Malwarebytes is flagging a range of IP addresses in the above 2 locations that it constantly tries to connect to. It was fine on the previous version

Thanks for proper registry fix for Win x64.

Aurelien wrote:i had to kill firefox (it really often remains in memory).
Firefox may close very slowly if you open tabs with video (flash/HTML5) player running or many tabs intensively using JavaScript (facebook, gmail, other social media or webmails etc.). Now there are also many add-ons incompatible with Firefox 29 Australis UI, Classic Theme Restorer or with both of them. Classic Theme Restorer slows down Firefox when working, and some add-ons claims to be fixed, but they may work even worse, no matter what UI you use. There may be also some old settings incompatible with new Firefox or add-ons versions.
If you are going to use many add-ons, I strongly recommend to create a new Firefox user profile and test add-ons one-by-one to avoid misleading incompatibility reports.

+1 Further information from the Malwarebytes log. The attempted connections are always on port 1500

I do not download torrents on that PC.

The attempted connections are when there are no active downloads.

I have currently disabled the plugin in Firefox version 29 and exited FDM from the system tray.
