FDM 3.9.4

The attempted connections are when there are no active downloads.
I have currently disabled the plugin in Firefox version 29 and exited FDM from the system tray.
1. Disable checking for updates. Open main FDM window, go to menu Options | Settings | General | Essential and select "Turn off automatic updates" in Update section.
2. Disable social features in FDM. Go to menu Options | Settings | Downloads | Essentials and unmark all features in FDM Community section.
3. Disable Bittorrent protocol and all it's extensions. Go to menu Options | Settings | Downloads | Bittorrent and unmark:
- Enable Bittorrent
- Enable DHT
- Enable Local Peer Discovery
- Enable UPnP
- Enable NAT-PMP
Look also at the torrent port range - probably it starts with 1500, which should be the explanation for your reports.
4. Click OK and restart FDM. Report if it's working OK now.

You are correct with port 1500 being the start of the BiTorrent port range.
Disabled BitTorrent only. Baby steps, too many changes at once does not help pinpoint the problem. Malwarebytes is now blocking incoming BitTorrent conection attempts on port 1500
Back to my cautious mode.

I have some problem. Please help us.
This is because FDM doesn't delete the old extension directory belongs to 3.9.3 in C:\ProgramData\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extensions if you don't uninstall the old version and reinstall a new one. You can do like this: copy ALL the files in FDM install path\Firefox\extension to C:\ProgramData\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extensions\1.6.0.x (x is changable) to replace the old files, then the extension will work under firefox 29. PLEASE DON'T USE IT NOW IF YOU USE FIREFOX 30+ VERSION!
Thanks a ton. I got it working in all 4 logins on my machine. I had a whole host of folders of the older versions I deleted all except 1.6.0.3 & everything works fine. Will use this trick in future too If I encounter this problem

After you disabled DHT, it will take some time (maybe a few days or more) for other nodes to "forget" your DHT node. Just wait a bit.
Re: FDM 3.9.4
Usher wrote:Changes in the plugin location are still inconsistent and FDM installer does NOT remove all tracks of older locations so it's not enough. Even FDM FAQ suggestions are incomplete. You should now do as follows:
1. Turn off Firefox.
2. Turn off Firefox monitoring in FDM and turn off FDM.
3. Delete all 1.x.x subdirectories in ProgramData folder
4. Run regedit and delete two keys:5. Run FDM again and turn on Firefox monitoring.Code: Select all
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\FreeDownloadManager.ORG\Free Download Manager\Settings\Update\FirefoxExt
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FreeDownloadManager.ORG\Free Download Manager\Settings\Update\FirefoxExt
It should be OK now, but you can check content of fdm_ffext@freedownloadmanager.org file - it should contain now path to FDM subdirectory:
C:\Program Files\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extension - in 32-bit Windows
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extension - in 64-bit Windows
Repeat the same actions for every Windows user on this PC.
All right, here are the steps to fix the problem. But can anybody write the steps to reproduce the bug? E.g. - yes, I have several addon versions in c:\ProgramData\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extensions\, but it's no problem, the new version simply works fine after I have installed FDM 3.9.4 after 3.9.3. I did not perform any registry manipulations etc.
Re: FDM 3.9.4
It seems that FDM installer just doesn't make all needed changes (including adding or removing some files/subdirectories/registry keys) and it is WRONG. You don't need to guess what is wrong with previous install, you should only check if the current install is OK.D. Yessa wrote:All right, here are the steps to fix the problem. If you are still going to dig in, some suggestions follow:
- Have you got FirefoxExt key present in registry before updating FDM?
- Have you tested FDM 3.9.4 installed after 3.9.2 or any earlier FDM version (without uninstalling the older one)?
- Have you ever installed standalone FDM plugin for Firefox?
- Have you ever changed manually install.rdf for FDM plugin?
- Have you run "check for update" from FDM?
- Have you tested installations on Windows XP?
- Do you use many profiles in Firefox?
- Have you compared installer scripts for different FDM versions?

Hi! What file (URL) are you downloading from https://code.google.com/p/transmisson-remote-gui/ ?
Downloaded a few files from that page - everything is OK (Chrome extension 1.0.4). Also, please specify your OS and FDM build number.

Re: FDM 3.9.4
...And try to turn off all other Chrome extensions. Maybe some of them conflicts with FDM.
