Firefox and Opera are still compatible with Windows 2000.

Thanks for the heads up.

You can try to use new dlls in Win98SE with KernelEx, but there may be more problems with exe files.

I tried Win2k and XP SP2 modes in KernelEx. No joy, but thanks for the suggestion.

- Italian translation and GUI bug in not english language
I posted the italian translation for FDM 3.8 in Translation forum section.
Please use it in next beta.
I found a bug in GUI (tested on 3.8.1039/3.8.1041)
Selecting 'File' -> 'Importa' (Import in italian) appear the string 'Import downloads from other managers' in english (not translated) also if the string is localized in language file.

- Compatibility with Filesonic
I tried to use FDM with Filesonic adding my Filesonic Premium user/password in 'Site manager' but I cannot download complete file (just downlaod a page that inform that should have a Premium account).
Is FDM (or will be) compatible with Filesonic?

Two different versions of FDM can't be used on the one computer. Uninstall both and install just 3.8 BETA. Then test it.

no no... i didn't have installed two different versions of FDM on the same system!
i had first FDM 3.0 build 852 instanned, tested, uninstalled,
then 3.7RC1 installed, tested, uninstalled,
then 3.8BETA build 1039 installed, tested

and with "2x windows 7 64 + IE9", i mean i have two different (physical) computers with that system installed.
and one other (physical) computer is an old windows XP + IE8

and next i will try the 3.8BETA build 1042...

This version is completely unusable in Windows 2000. I didn't test it in newer Windows yet.

In order to test FDM 3.8 in Windows 2000 I use KDW (Known Dlls Wrapper). I installed FDM 3.8 and simply replaced FDM.exe with last 3.7 version. New FDM extension works with Firefox 5.0, new dlls for IE work with IE6, but torrent support is broken.

I have got 12 active torrents, one of them is only seeding after finished download. I have stopped all of them before installing new FDM version.

1. Torrent lib in version 975 (from 1039 build) recalulates hashes for every started torrent. It can use even 100% of single core CPU for checksums (and it is normal for all versions), but then CPU load lowers only to 20-30% with minimal traffic. Old torrent lib gives about 10% load for heavy traffic and 2-3% for minimal traffic.
2. Version 977 (from 1041 build) crashes immediately after it tries to start seeding the finished torrent download I have mentioned above.

Alex, what VS2010 version do you use - with or without SP1?

beta-tester wrote:hello, its me again...

i have a problem with one website and/or FDM (3.0...3.8BETA) and/or browser.

...

PS.: i tried it with Firefox5 and FDM3.8Beta just now, and currently this combination works well

i tested the issues again with FDM 3.8 build 1041 beta (i deinstalled the previous version with removing all old settings, and than installed the new version)

it happends again - unter IE9 and under Firefox 5 - when is do this sequence immediately step by step...
1. opend http://www.graphicall.org/56 from favorites - page opend, pressing download link will popup FDM and download started and finished succesful.

2. opend http://www.graphicall.org/108 from favorites (during the previous download is in progress) - page opend, pressing download link, will popup FDM, but download didn't start (orange and than red)

3. tried to open http://www.graphicall.org/49 from favorites - page didn't open (stay on the last page 108)
navigation to an other page of graphicall is not possible anymore until i close browser and FDM.

PS.: i can navigate to any other website in this situation, but (back to) the graphicall website i can not go to anymore.

okay, maybe it is a server problem of graphicall website - but to be really sure that FDM is not the problem, i post this comment here.

can anybody try this issues to see if only i have that problem...
thanks.

Ah, OK. The reason it that Bittorrent module from 3.8 version is incompatible with previous versions of FDM.

SP1. I think we'll check if it's possible to compile it using VS2008.

I recently updated to Firefox 5 and when it said it wont support this version ( 3.4 maybe) of fdm, I tried several versions from 3.5-3.8(not 3.6), but it still can't catch files. I tried the download mirror thing. No use! Please help. :?

Kaspersky internet security 2010 gives a suspicous activity alert and identifies fdm38inst.exe (downloaded from the link in the first post) as being a trojan.generic

Is there any plan to continue with fdm-lite? As I don't require the extra features such as BT, for me is strictly HTTP/FTP downloads only.

In reference to my previous post: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/board/viewtopic.php?p=33055#p33055

I haven't yet checked whether the 1st bug has really been fixed, but the 2nd bug still exists in 3.8 build 1041.

I see my description of the 2nd bug wasn't clear: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/board/viewtopic.php?p=33057#p33057

Let me rephrase it. FDM should be pruning the history automatically per the "Keep records within" setting, but it only prunes when I press OK in the History settings window.
