I used to use uTorrent before I discovered FDM. On the whole I like FDM better, but there is at least one area where FDM needs to improve.

uTorrent is good at detecting when a file has no active seeds or peers. When that happens, uTorrent will reduce that file's priority, and will go on to the next file in the queue.

Unless there's an option I have overlooked, FDM seems to have no such "zero detection". Once the download attempt begins, FDM will doggedly keep trying to download the file even when there is no source to download from. Files lower in the queue will never get started.

The only workaround I have found is to open the FDM window and manually move the offending file or files to the bottom of the list. That should not be necessary.

I replaced 32-bit Firefox 12 on my Windows 7 computer with the 64-bit "UX" (FF 15) build.

Now the FDM extension does not work.

Now the FDM extension does not work.

And you don't want to read explanations in other topics before posting.
FDM is a 32-bit application and uses 32-bit plugins/extensions to work with 32-bit browsers only.

It works the old-fashioned way: with Flashgot.

It works when you change flash player settings. Right click the player and select "Switch media to progressive" (not "streaming", my bad) from the context menu. Now you should see "Download with FDM" button.

Reason: fixed context menu position name

Hello, I have problems to download videos from this website.
http://www.mx-life.tv/

If i download a video, FDM shows me a list of links that are available for that video (all are 1024MB or 2048MB). If i start the download FDM looks like it is downloading the video, but it never will come to the end of download process - it hangs at 99.8%.
If i interrupt the download at 99.8% sometimes i have a broken video, sometimes the full video with wrong duration time and a big bunch of empty area of free bytes in the file end.

PS.: Flash player has either, an "Switch media to streaming"- nor "Switch media to progressive"- option in the context menu on these videos (i thought, maybe it is a similar problems like these in the posts before).

FreeDownloadManager 3.9.1 BETA 1252;
Internet Explorer 9 (Flash Player 11 ActiveX 64bit 11.2.202.235);
Firefox 12.0 (Flash Player Plugin 11 64bit 11.2.202.235);
Windows 7 ULTIMATE 64bit (build7601: SP1);

It's me again, in the context menu of flash player i found a debug option:

Will my list of downloads is lost, if I migrate to the new version?

Well, i have tried to download some video from that site and this time it was only 253 MB of 2 GB space. But the file is NOT broken, it's just the first continuous part containing progressive stream, all the rest of the file is empty. You can cut the empty end with HxD or another hex editor and the file will be played correctly. The file may be played as is in VLC Player or Media Player Classic Homecinema with no problem. VLC is better - it shows the real video duration time and allows to use seek bar. BTW, the stream was recorded using VLC, so it maybe some VLC issue.
It maybe also some server-side issue, I think. The site webmasters use Akamai Content Delivery Network to share video and they seem to reserve space for streams in chunks - 1GB, 2GB etc. 1 GB can contain a little more than 1 hour so the real video could be shorter and FDM hangs in the end of the stream. Technically it's a kind of sparse file, so the site owners pay only for used space, not for reserved space and the webmasters just don't care if the file size is correct.

Thank you for these information.
Maybe some of my videos where broken, because of I stopped the downloads too early.
To download videos from that website, I have to adjust the download properties, to get a acceptable result:
1. I limit the number of allowed sections to only one - to prevent to start sections, that may outside of the video content range.
2. i disabled the "Reserve disk space for downloading file" option.
with these two adjustments, i get the whole video and its filesize is not too large.
but FDM still doesn't stop automatically...
i have to stop by hand - normally when i see that there are no bytes coming from the server for longer time [0B/s]

this is my workaround for that.
Do you see a chance to handle that automatically by FDM? or is that "server-site-issue" too exotic to add functionality in FDM?
