Yes agreed the main site needs more info such as a change log or perhaps even a W.I.P report.

Please add a change log to the main page it helps lots of users get an idea of whats going on and removes the need to constantly monitor the forums for issues which have already been resolved.

Seeing as you are using phpbb an easy way to add news to the main page would be to add a phpbb mod known as php fetch all which will allow threads from the forum to be posted on the main page as announcements.
