Please re-download FDM installer again and install. Tell me about the result.

Yes, the Flash module works correctly again in new FDM 3.8 version (MD5 43c9621fe97be35163bd749a9d5cff1e) Thank you, Alex. Still testing.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, so here I go:

Monitoring on IE9 is buggy. The option "[ALT] must be pressed" has no effect.
FDM is always triggered. Firefox 5 is uneffected.

This seems to have been introduced only recently, I've been using the betas since
Firefox 4 was released and never had issues.

Other than that, great project! Thank you!

Hey Alex, I'm wondering, can you somehow improve the startup time for FDM? I've timed it on my Windows 7 x64 system to take about 6 seconds to start the first time (once Windows has completely loaded and I manually start it) and if I close it and restart it later, about 4 seconds. Every second counts in the long run. :)

FDM startup time depends on:
- your FDM settings - the more logs you keep the longer start is (see menu Options | Settings | History);
- your download list - the more downloads (especially torrents) you have the longer start is.

What is more, FDM clears expired entries in logs on startup. That way it takes more time to start FDM after long period of unusing than to restart it. And don't forget that during restart some FDM files may be already cached in RAM so it also makes restart faster.

subject: FDM crash after downloading Flash Video

hi, sometimes FDM 3.8 b1058 is crashing afterdownloading flash videos...

e.g.

http://www.blendernation.com/2011/07/15 ... rNation%29

( http://hansenet-ber1.hansenet-ham1.o-o. ... st=lc&ir=1 )

only download - not enabled the convert option.

i started the video,
switched to 720p,
and clicked the "Download It"-Button.

FDM started downloading normally and finished downloading (at 99%) - but the bubble info/notification that normaly appers in the right lower corner of the screen, to notify that the download is finished, pop up as a black region with nothing on and FDM stopped working.
windows is bringing a message, thet FDM stopped working.

every time when downloading the video with that link FDM crashes.

subject2: FDM downloads the Flash video mot everytime from the beginning.

the second issue is, that sometimes the downloaded video is missing the beginning of it. it seems, the the video is downloading only from the time when the "Download It"-button was pressed - the time between start playing and pressing the "download it" button is not in the downloaded video.

subject3: FDM is only downloading flash videos with the quality that is currently selected in the flash player.

if i watch a flash video with 480px the downloaded quality is also 480px even if there is a higher quality available (720p) - is it possible to automaticialy download every time the flash video in its highest available quaity?

win 7 x64 ultimate
IE9 and Firefox 5 (on both this issues is present)

Alright. Just thought it would be possible for FDM to take advantage of my 6 CPU cores to start up faster, that's all. ;)

So you should ask about multithreading, not just about startup. But you can't speed up disk I/O operations that way if all accessed files are on the same HDD.

It can be optimized by using a incremental launch:
1. Load FDM's core, show tray icon;
2. Run all scheduler tasks except download tasks;
3. Load active downloads list except torrents; Start them;
4. Load all other downloads and torrents;
5. Run all scheduler download tasks.

FDM already does something like that. During startup you can see blue arrow icon first - if you click it you can see empty main window while FDM loads download list. Then you can see download list and yellow arrow while FDM starts downloads, and then you can see red, green or yellow icon depending on updated download status.
Downloads in automatic mode are started from top to bottom of the download list, no matter they are regular downloads or torrents.
Of course you can stop all downloads before exiting FDM and resume them one-by-one or in automatic mode after FDM start - that way FDM really starts faster.
