Dear User!dgaleano wrote:Thanks for the effort on releasing the new version 5 however after using it for a couple of weeks I decided that I like 3.9 better.
Old 3.9 has better functionality and the interface is like a file manager which is just what your are doing when organizing your downloads.
I think I'll stick to 3.9.
Regards.
Could you kindly describe in more details which functions would you like to have? What are your wishes for the improvement of the program?
Regards,
Clive

Please, may you compare this? Thanks.
Dear User!
Many thanks for your help! We highly appreciate it.
We've found out that XDM downloaded files using several streams from the site geragera.com.br while FDM used only one stream. This caused the difference in speed. The server didn't report that it supports the multi-part download but, in fact, it did.
This problem will be fixed in the upcoming FDM release.

Am I missing an obvious setting somewhere?
At the moment, this option is not present. In the nearest plans is adding of batch downloads, then the "download all with free" option may appear.
A strange one not to already have...
massalah wrote:i have to uninstall FDM v5 due to lack of features. wish u can integrate FDM v3 features (like: editing url of downloading file, site explorer, etc) on the new one.
I have to agree with this - V5 really isn't a beta, it's an alpha as it can't do many of the things the previous V3 could yet...
TommyB wrote:Please create a signed version of 3.x so it can be used again with newer versions of Firefox.... currently 5.x is too incomplete.
You really should do this while V5 is alpha and incomplete, or people are just going to move to another product after using FDM for years..

The work at the temporary extension option is in progress. Soon you'll have it as an option and not forced. Still please take into account that it was created "forced" for not tech-savvy users to avoid the problems Terek mentioned.
Kindly let me know what else would you like to improve in FDM 5.

Re: FDM 5.1 Beta
First of all thanks for your great software then I have a request :
It will be so good if we have the Properties of each download to set proxy or change the link.
Thanks again

Could you kindly describe in more details which kind of files sorting do you want to use?
Now you can sort the files by tags.

This feature is in our to-do list. The option to change the link appears earlier than the proxy for each download.

Re: FDM 5.1 Beta
Hi there,
Is a "shutdown after all downloads" feature being considered?(like it was in v3)
Would be especially useful with downloading big files cos i would be afk mostly and would not like the system to lie idle after downloading is done.
Thanks

Clive,
Really appreciate what all the Team are trying to achieve with FDM 5.1 Beta
May I ask where we FDM Users and Forum Readers can find your "To Do List" that you mentioned. as have been unable to find it published on Forum. I assume it not a secret for some reason.
I ask because are constantly asked for input on feature requests and ideas (which is great) and we having sight of your "To Do" LIst (regularly updated) will, apart from greatly interesting Forum Users, avoid repetitious feature and idea requests that may already be on the Dev. Team's "To Do" List already. Additionally and importantly, it would let us know in one place what features are planned/anticipated by the Dev/ Team for future inclusion.
Re: FDM 5.1 Beta
Currently FDM always tries to open 10 TCP connections to download 1 big file?
Why on earth does it always do this?
It pretty much makes sure nobody else in my house can use the internet while I'm downloading a big file.
It's the kind of thing that can get you banned from some sites.
It rarely makes the download go much faster anyway.

Re: FDM 5.1 Beta
I can't work out how to get to remembered download folders when I want to download to the same folder as I downloaded a file to yesterday. All destination folders are supposed to be remembered, but where are they?
