Re: FDM 6.7 Release Candidate
The provided filename for youtube downloads are being ignored and just uses the server file name. This doesn't seem to apply to regular file downloads (and can't comment on torrents).
Download these through FDM and change the name to repro:

How can this help us to automatically start a download when the user inserts a removable drive with it?

Hello,
This notification is shown by your OS, not by FDM. But we'll try to find a workaround, if possible.

What a nonsense…Alex wrote:Usher wrote:So use this function only on demand, when starting a new download, trying to move existing downloads, etc.

1. Automatically means "follow previously provided data and instructions WITH NO further USER INTERACTION", your example is just ON user's DEMAND (user adds/inserts new data/instructions).
2. Users can click button to select drive/path from tree (it would be more or less AUTOMATICALLY), select path from the pulldown list (guessing which one still exists) or type path MANUALLY. In two latter cases users should expect the worst: typing errors, timeout when checking drive, error on calling path to deleted folder, etc.
Periodic polling all drives isn't really needed.

My example? What do you mean? The only thing I was talking about is automatic resume of existing downloads on removable drives. And this feature requires the periodic polling, in case OS does not provide the according events. Android does provide them so we use them and do not use periodic polling.
Anyway I do not want to continue this off-topic discussion... As I said we will think about what to do to solve the issue.

Re: FDM 6.7 Release Candidate
By default FDM should check only drive listed as a location of existing download and only when making any action with that download. If the download is missing, FDM should issue error message and ask users if they want to search for the download on other drives. Polling IS NOT RECOMMENDED also for power saving reasons, so FDM should never wake any sleeping media without user's permission (by default it should be permitted only for scheduled downloads).

Re: FDM 6.7 Release Candidate
Free Download Manager 6.7 Release Candidate is not functioning on my computer any more. It is a blank white screen inside the window. Sometimes it will load but it will freeze again. It is not the "Not Responding" type of freeze as I can close it out normally.
I sent a Bug Report about this.
But then I tried to use it by creating a new User Account on the same computer. It worked for a few hours so I sent an updated Bug Report. But it does not work on that computer either.
And that is why I decided to post here before sending a third Bug Report. I also tried the 32 Bit version (This is a 64 Bit computer but I tried it anyways.) It does not function either. The Stable Free Download Manager works fine. It even downloads most You Tube videos again. But some only will work with Release Candidate. That is why I want to keep using Release Candidate.
Release Candidate 64 Bit works perfectly on a different 64 Bit computer.
Please tell me which software file got corrupted and where it is located. It is not located in APPDATA. Wise Registry Cleaner does not seem to solve the problem either but I will try again.

Re: FDM 6.7 Release Candidate
Hello, could you specify when the RC stopped working and started showing the blank screen? Any specific conditions?
Re: FDM 6.7 Release Candidate
where is the log tab? i
its useful to know if the server has ignored the multi content chunk so you dont pause it and lose your download progress aswell as monitoring the individual connection status
i like the speed throttling options but ill stick to 5.x for now even thou its buggy on catalina when it gets opened indirectly

Hello,
Do you really need the log tab? We could just add some special indication for the downloads with no resume support (like FDM3 which has one).

Hello,
Now FDM6 periodically checks only the drives the user downloads on. And only if there active downloads (including seeding torrents). In addition, under Windows OS, FDM6 uses events from OS, thus periodic checks are disabled completely (as well as under Android). It seems that this can also be done for Mac OS too (we did not investigate it good yet). Unfortunately, it seems that Linux OS lacks these events (generally)..
