And this is when it leaves the FDM program running in the task bar and a quick link on the lower right on my desktop. But should I fail to close it - it eventually stops working and only way to get it working again is to restart to get FDM to work again. And this time I did close it but now it failed to catch the torrent link instead goes straight to the torrent program to start the torrent download.
Now I understand, it's something really strange. I will try to reproduce this behaviour on other torrent sites, but I suspect it's some conflict of add-ons.
What is "the torrent program" that "catches the torrent link"?
Why don't you just turn off torrent support in FDM?

utorrent 2.0.4, I'll check on that to see if v3 has that option to turn off torrent links. But the problem is even if I don't download a torrent file starter file for regular downloads like java udpates file and don't exit FDM that by itself will still cause FDM to crash and not work until I restart to get it to work again. So it's just leaving it idle after a download will still cause it to crash but you won't know that until you try to download a file and it goes immediately to the Browser download.

There version of utorrent is uTorrent 2.0.4 Build 22967 you can find it at http://www.oldapps.com/utorrent.php. Anything v3 is completely junkware adware. Anything for the last 2.0.4 build works fine for me even though the utorrent site where they have the forum said older version is security concern but considering the amount of adware on v3-I think their own words are hypocritical in itself.

@StormJumper Go to
Options > Settings > Downloads > Bittorent and uncheck [_] Enable BitTorrent protocol support
Options > Settings > Downloads > Monitoring > Skip list
add "torrent" (no quotes to "Skip files with extensions" field.
You can also add your favorite sites you want FDM to ignore to the "Don't catch download from these sites (space separated)" text box.

That by itself doesn't work.

SelfMan wrote:d "torrent" (no quotes to "Skip files with extensions" field.
This works if you add "torrent" to the field.

That won't be good as sites will not always be the same from site to site. Would add more headache then it helps.

Also I did experience another crash this morning with FDM running and submitted the error report.

Here is a screen shot of the FDM error when left running.

Since this I have submitted about three error reports as well.

Re: FDM 3.9.7 - Accidentally click on Ordering Column

Postby kqha » Fri Nov 04, 2016 6:41 am

Today I accidentally clicked on "Filename" column and the downloads are now re-ordered by filename. How do I revert it back? I have hundred of ongoing download links, and most of it are ordered manually by on my personal priorities. When I stopped all the downloads, and restart it all, somehow FDM still remember my ordering because all the scattered downloads still started according to my manual ordering despite the display is ordered by filename.

You cannot, I'm afraid. When you restart FDM, the order will be broken.

I think most people keep order by date so you can use column "Added" (you can right click any column name and add missing columns if needed) to sort downloads for the start, then move your active downloads manually to the top (with mouse or keyboard shortcuts). Note that when you restart FDM again, the order will be still partially broken.

Don't try to fix order by sorting downloads in groups - it may break general order even more.

Hello!

Could you kindly indicate the OS, FDM version number and browsers you're running?

I got 3.9.7 and clicked on the link and downloaded without no problems. So not sure what exactly the problem you were having downloading the .exe was.

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Version: 1607
OS Build: 14393.447

FDM Version: 3.9.7
FDM build: 1672

Issue:
Silent creation of downloads not working.

What should have happen:
1. Drag a (download) link to drop box
2. Download starts immediately without prompt

What happens:
1. Drag a (download) link to drop box
2. Add download window/prompt appears -> click ok
3. Download starts

What I tried:
1. Run FDM in user mode
a) w/o compatibility (normal run) -> Silent creation still does not work
b) w/ compatibility mode (tried with XP, 7 and Vista) -> Silent creation still does not work

2. Run FDM as admin
a) w/o compatibility (normal run) -> cannot drag links to drop box or FDM main window
b) w/ compatibility (XP, 7 and Vista) -> cannot drag links to drop box or FDM main window

Note:
FDM settings and configuration in default
Silent creation is checked
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/~/Free Download Manager/Settings/New Download/AutoStart = 0x00000001 (1)

PS
Silent creation works in command link however:
fdm.exe -fs [url/link]

There is NO such a build yet. The latest build is 1627 for now.

myiasis wrote:Issue:

There is NO such an option n FDM 3.x. There is Silent monitoring in FDM monitoring options.

myiasis wrote:2. Run FDM as admin

It's normal WIndows UAC behaviour - the OS creates separate workspaces for different levels of privileges. Lower-privileged processes cannot drag-and-drop to higher-privileged ones.

It's a setting for automatical start (in "Add download" dialog window), not for silent monitoring.

Okay sorry for the typo. It was indeed Build 1627 and yes, there is silent creation and by that I mean this:

And that's exactly what I was referring to, if I wasn't clear enough. The thing is, it's not working in Windows 10, it works in my other PCs and Laptops running Win 7, but not for Windows 10.

Since the Guest aka mylasis provides no links how would you expect anyone with Windows 10 and FDM 3.9.7 bulid 1927 to even produce the issue your having?
