FDM 5 Preview
Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Very interesting, my favorite app is getting one huge step ahead on its development... and are using Chromium Embedded Framework which makes FDM one step nearer to become a cross-platform software also, very nice.
Where is the source by the way? Any chance we get that on Github? http://freedownloadmanager.idea.informe ... /?ia=76516
Anyways, very cool, keep the good work.

Actually, you can, as the latest release now installs side by side with FDM 3.x, and imports your settings from FDM 3.x, so that you can test it and remove it as you need without affecting FDM 3.x.
So, yes, this is definitely testable even in a production environment.
But this is alpha version & can create issues or mess the system, right?
Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Currently there are three ways:yash wrote:How does the HD video download works? (Other than drag/drop & copy/paste)
1. Right click:
- OR -
2. Drag & drop a link from a list:
- OR -
3. Drag & drop the current page URL:
After that, choose the video quality to download:
That's it!
Right. This is alpha version.Guest wrote:But this is alpha version & can create issues or mess the system, right?
Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Dear D Yessa Is it very much difficult to write the normal UI and its features in less memory and browser integration module also. let me make myself clear
1. fdm.exe & fdmUI.dll (optional) to control UI that contain all necessary item with setting and font size is smaller than right now.
2. fdm.dll controls the download module.
3. fdmsniffer.dll & mediacatcher.dll (optional) controls media files including web players and rtmp etc.
4. fdmBHO.dll in IE & npfdm.dll in other browsers plus *.crx and *.xpi in chrome and firefox browser extension in a folder called plugins or addons or extension.
5. browsercatcher.dll or browsermonitor.dll for advanced integration to modern browser like maxthon, torch, comodo dragon, comodo icedragon etc.
6. create a folder and add youtubecom.dll for parse youtube url and dailymotioncom.dll for dailymotion etc and dll file or any other file will have the ability to store and work with userid and password.
may be this is not difficult for you to make if you start again and make it better and do look about (www.wisecleaner.com) for UI.
thanks

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
what about adding a download integration with mega.co.nz the sdk https://mega.co.nz/#sdk of MEGA its written in c++ I don't think it could be that hard to add support for the C++ Client Access Engine inside FDM or as a plugin to allow to capture the downloads from MEGA
Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Why aren't you guys making a Linux version yet? This would have been the perfect opportunity to make a good cross-platform version of FDM so that no-one need be vendor-locked if they don't like the direction Microsoft is taking Windows. If Linux is good enough for Valve, it should be good enough for FDM's developers. But apparently aping this flat-UI craze people have become infected with is more important.

You should be more appreciative of them making FDM free to begin with. It's the best download manager out there and they don't charge a penny. Not saying you can't give constructive criticism, but whether they ever decide to make a linux version or not is up to the devs; you can't force them, particularly if you haven't paid anything.
Anyway, as to the alpha, I'm sure it's going to change a lot before even the beta appears so there should be plenty of time to incorporate features that will make everyone happy.
Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Another huge issue: There is no download basket.
BTW it does not seem to catch links when they are triggered through JavaScript.
I was trying to download the latest Realtek HD audio driver from here:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dow ... Down=false
I am using FF 31 on Windows 8.1.

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
I forgot to add yet another dimension of the problem: Since FDM was not able to catch a link when the download is triggered by JavaScript, I let it first be downloaded by FF, and then copied the link from FF with the intention of adding the link in FDM.
But when I switched to FDM, I found that there is no "Add URL" button (The blue (+) button that is provided at the very left of the toolbar of the stable version).
Since the Realtek site makes the link available through JavaScript, I cannot drag-n-drop it from FF to FDM.
So how exactly am I supposed to download this???

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Hey Linux Lamer! I'm pretty sure you can always join the development team and provide all the Linux code to make a Linux version...
If you have no clue about Linux coding, you probably expect the FDM team to learn Linux coding skills.
But even in this case I have a better solution for you: You learn how to code in Linux, join the development team and provide all the Linux code to make a Linux version...

Just out of curiosity:Narayan wrote:I keep getting the following error while trying to download software from host sites:

Do you use NoScript or YesScript in Firefox to block the download sites?
Have you turned off Enhanced Protection Mode in Internet Explorer?
Have you allowed FDM in your antivirus (internet security) software?
