FDM trying to connect to various addresses
FDM trying to connect to various addresses
Greetings.
Long time user of FDM.
Used the old version and then switched over to Version 6.
Really enjoy the program but I noticed recently that Malware Bytes has been blocking many outgoing connections to different IP 's. Example: 117.247.202.76, 120.2.68.6, 202.164.138.44, 178.175.50.138 etc. (India, China, Albania etc.)
There are numerous attempts every now and again. Has the program been compromised and should it be doing this?
Any advice please.

Re: FDM trying to connect to various addresses
Hello,
I have the same problem with malwarebyte and the topic you are talking about is from 2014 ??
I have unset automatic update but problem always here.
As your topic is too old, it is impossible to see any adress port for torrent client.
Anyhow, i unchecked it and it doesn't solve anything.
So thanks to solve it maybe with malwarebyte staff if it is a false positif detection.

Re: FDM trying to connect to various addresses
You are definitely better off going to the MB forums to figure out how to work around MB when it blocks BT in FDM.
That is not anything they can really do about here.
If it is a single IP that is blocked when MB detects you DLing from it, you can add it as an exclusion in MB. If it is any time you try to get a torrent then you have to exclude the FDM app in MB.
But talking to them with your specific example will allow them to help you resolve the issue with your specific example directly.

Re: FDM trying to connect to various addresses
Can you list some of those IP addresses, please? Sometimes it's possible to identify malware that way.jacques56 wrote:They are different IP adresses and I don't use Torrent at all.

The last two IP :
182.116.109.14
121.134.239.164
Re: FDM trying to connect to various addresses
I must say that,
I have two computers with Malwarebyte
One with FDM V5 and the Other with FDM V6
Only FDM V6 is detected by malwarebyte

Re: FDM trying to connect to various addresses
I'm afraid you have really installed some malware. Your PC or your router may be a part of a botnet now. You should report your problem to Malwarebytes support (full IP list will be helpful).jacques56 wrote:The last two IP :

FDM is not a direct source of your problem, if you downloaded the installer from this forum. However, the malware might change proxy settings in your FDM or somehow abuse FDM extension in your browser. If you downloaded FDM installer from another site, it might be wrapped in malware installer. That download URL may be also helpful for Malwarebytes support.

Re: FDM trying to connect to various addresses
If Windows you should try *SafeMode* and see what happens with torrent. And if the problem doesn't happen then you got malware infections if SafeMode doesn't have issue. Then you need a Computer shop to fix the problem.

In addition, I'm sure the dev team here would love to know if you downloaded FDM from a 3rd party site that is embedding it with Malware.

Re: FDM trying to connect to various addresses
The IP addresses you have posted are related to malware, probably installed using your browser rather than FDM. You should first remove that malware from your system before posting any new message here. It's not the forum you are looking for.
I'm afraid that no one can help you if you prefer complaining rather than following suggestions and reporting rules.
