You can just disable the FDM extension in your browser, permanently or for a while, and then try to download your files by copying their URL/links or drag/drop. It is a little bit slower but believe me it is a good thing.

We sincerely appreciate your feedback, and we definitely will take into account all your comments and wishes,

We also would like to explicitly stress that we are going to add the habitual Table View UI.
Other options mentioned in this thread will be added as well, including buttons that let you quickly switch the download speed.

Please stay tuned,

Best regards,
Victoria

Dear Victoria, I know it is a matter of taste, but I would go with current design (built 4520); It is simple but very intuitive. Why you try to make it more complicate and probably taking more usage of RAM. To me, working on more acceleration is worthy than just mounting similar features that makes the program larger (more volume on hard disk, registry and etc).
Pleas take the FDM as simple and neatly as possible.

Best regards

If you want less usage of RAM, more acceleration keys, less volume on hard disk, registry, etc., you can just use FDM 3.x.

If you want a program as simple and neatly as possible, you can use downloader embedded in your favourite browser, possibly with some video download helper add-on.

Free Download Manager is great software. I tried it yesterday on Windows 7 and work perfect. But my main OS is Linux (openSUSE).

The most important feature in download manager is browser integration and generally download manager in linux not have this feature. Do you plan to support FDM for Linux on future?

Would like to suggest that portable version is created directly from the setup file instead of having to install, then create portable then uninstall. Portable users are very picky about this stuff. Quite a few setup files have this option now to install or create portable version. Check 3DYD Youtube Downloader for example. Maybe this option exists now in the version 5 setup though? i hope so.

Thanks for excellent product.

Also thanks for allowing people to offer suggestions and comment here without registering. Wise move because feedback is very important to developing a good product.

Please hook into the new notifications system on Win8+ so that download completions/errors/etc can be reported via that.

Speaking of Errors, today it suddenly stared to malfunction :(

"Runtime Error!"

Program: c:\Program Files (x86)\Free Download Manager 5\fdm.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."

In the middle of a download. It first happened once, then twice and now it won't even start anymore :?

I've got Windows 8. If you need anything you can try asking. I'll try to reinstall and re-start. I'll let you know if it happens again and will try to put on the notification thing!

I see! Yes basically I was just about to start downloads from 4shared. They stared shortly after another and it was 6 of them. Before it didn't seem to have been a problem, but today I had a lot of other stuff running along with that. So it didn't even manage to open after malfunctioning. I had shut down a couple of things after finishing work, so when I tried opening it once more it worked.

But yeah that's a problem. It just shut down without warning and unfortunately most sources that I load stuff from don't allow to re-start an interrupted download *sighs*

Suggested to be added:
1. Compatibility with Microsoft edge.
2. Auto detection and classification of download types: software, video, compressed.

I'm on 5.0 build 4520 and I found that some settings can't be saved. e.g. when I check silent monitoring and after restarting FDM, it remains unchecked.
This also applies to File not found and Access denied options
