Usher,
Does the stable fdm gives the option to select files to download before starting download for torrent?

- Before downloading *.torrent file it's impossible to know its content, so you can select files only after start.
- Both FDM 3.9.x versions download improper torrent sections. F.e. you need only file #4 of 10. FDM should download sections covering the tail of file #3, file #4 in whole and the beginning of file #5, let's say 12 sections. In real FDM downloads 12 sections from some unpredictable places and stops showing 100% of file #4 downloaded.

We did not know about this problem and can't reproduce it on our side.
Could you please give us some details? I.e. what torrent and what exactly files you tried to download.

Yes, it's from detailed log for torrent download.Alex wrote:Is it a torrent download?Usher wrote:2. FDM works OK with pol.lng file converted to UTF-16LE, but it does wrong conversion for strings provided by kernel32.dll.
One more problem with torrents. FDM creates log file fdmlog.txt which is practically unusable as it contains only dates and error messages. When closing FDM with torrent download active, the log contains only following messages:
2015-2-17 CFloatingInfoWnd::UpdateDownloadSpeed unknown exception
2015-2-17 CFloatingInfoWnd::UpdateDownloadProgress unknown exception
2015-2-17 CFloatingInfoWnd::UpdateDownloadProgress unknown exception

It seems there are similar packages for each active torrent download. In my opinion every entry of log should contain full time stamp, name of download and error message.

I don't know what the shadow defender is. But the fact it prevents you from copying log from FDM indicates that it could be the reason.
At least, you could make a screenshot with the several last lines of log. Could you?

It seems the problem is related to Boost library which is used by LibTorrent.
We plan to fix it soon.

Re: FDM 3.9.5 BETA
It seems that flash video monitoring causes hang both Firefox and Internet Explorer when closing browser. Hanging process utilises 100% of a single processor core. It means that plugin libraries are still in use by the hanging process and FDM uninstal may be unsuccesful.
What is more, there is some off-by-one error. FDM flash video monitoring plugin in Firefox displays button with "You'll need to provide administrator permission to export/import settings." message instead of the next line "Download with FDM".

Re: FDM 3.9.5 BETA
It's probably an old problem with language changing. I closed Firefox and FDM, removed Firefox startup cache and now I can see only English strings from fdm_ffext.xul and fdm_fmbtn.js ("Download by..."). No matter what language I use, strings from *.lng files ("Download with...") are ignored. See viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16802&start=15#p38540Usher wrote:What is more, there is some off-by-one error.
Now something about downloads from Youtube in Firefox.
1. Downloads work no matter how flash video monitoring is set. You don't even need to start playing video - just click "Download by FDM" button above the upper left corner of the dark "Click to play" window.
2. FDM works in a different way than SaveFrom.net helper does. FDM downloads video and audio streams as two separate files and merges them, leaving audio file undeleted and ignoring option to keep original timestamp from the server.
On the other side SaveFrom.net helper provides links to download a single file (combined video+audio, video only or audio only), which is better. This extension provides also other formats - flv, 3gp etc. if available.

Please provide URL examples. If savefrom.net provides a link to a single file which FDM doesn't see - this is a defect.
For me, savefrom.net always gives a link to 1080p video without audio, and 720p video with audio. FDM provides the same formats (and joins streams if necessary).
Usher wrote:This extension provides also other formats - flv, 3gp etc. if available.
As I can see, FDM currently lacks FLV and 3D video, this will be fixed soon. If you find more differences, please let us know.

Is not working properly "check update now". In the update shows the message "Invalid URL". Should refer to the latest beta.

- Before downloading *.torrent file it's impossible to know its content, so you can select files only after start.

In real FDM downloads 12 sections from some unpredictable places and stops showing 100% of file #4 downloaded.
What I meant was, in the current alpha 5, when you try to download torrent, fdm shows list of files to select to download & then you can start to download.
In fdm 3, it doesn't shows the list of files, right? You can only select files to download after starting download & then going to content list & checking/unchecking files to download.
When I use to use fdm 3 for torrent, checking/unchecking files in content list to download was of no use as fdm 3 use to download all the files ignoring the unchecked files.
So this new beta gives the option like in alpha 5 for torrent i.e select files to download before starting download?
