Preferences screen is hanging
I have reported this to admin via the formal process and they could not recreate, so this is a post to see if anyone else is having this issue.
When I click Preferences, FDM hangs for anywhere between 20-60 seconds. This happens every time I visit the Preferences screen. This has happened for the last couple of releases (I am using 6.17.0.4792) but did not happen in releases from previous years.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hello,
Can you please provide your System Information ? You can save it in a file, upload somewhere (e.g. anonfiles.com) and send me the link via the private message on this forum.

Done! I have redacted user information.

Hello,
Unfortunately, I was not able to find anything suspicious in your config.
Can you please check if the problem reproducible on a clean install?
For this, you don't have to reinstall FDM. Instead, you can just shut FDM down, go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Softdeluxe\Free Download Manager folder, move db.sqlite and settings.ini files to some temporary folder, then start FDM.

Re: Preferences screen is hanging
I have done what you said. Some strange behaviour occurred.
On the clean install, first click of Preferences loaded the screen instantly. Second click hung the program for ~20 seconds. Third click, instant. Fourth click, instant.
I then restored the two files to how they were and clicked Preferences and it hung for ~20 seconds.

Please do the following steps:
1. Launch Task Manager and find fdm.exe process there (Details tab).
2. Reproduce the issue in FDM.
3. Now you have to be fast enough to make the dump of fdm.exe process. FDM must be in hang state while you are making the dump (the dump will be useless otherwise).
4. Once you made it - please upload it somewhere (e.g. https://anonfiles.com) and send me the link via the private message. I'll then try to investigate it and understand what's going on there.
How to make dump: in Task Manager, right click on fdm.exe process and choose "Create dump file" menu.
The log file can also be helpful, please send it too. It's located in this folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Softdeluxe\Free Download Manager\logs.

Re: Preferences screen is hanging
Sorry for the delay. I have done a clean install. Preference screen is still hanging while a large (1GB) file is being downloaded.

Thanks!

Hello,
Please check if this FDM version solves the issue:
https://files2.freedownloadmanager.org/ ... _setup.exe

Re: Preferences screen is hanging
That seems to have fixed it!
Shall I keep running this version or revert back to the official release for the time being?
BTW you still have "Medium Mode" text appearing on the window to reflect window size, and I think the official release had this too. Maybe it's an oversight?
Thanks.
