Is this happening for everyone else as well?

Hello!

Does the issue persist when you close FDM? Could you give us the URL of the file you tried to download?

Ticketick wrote:Hi, I am testing 5.1.9.3627 (ed130b1) in Windows 10 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet.

I have made a few simple tests and it seems to work fine.

This version of the application does not seem to support multiple monitors with different scaling. My tablet uses 250% but my external monitor is at 100%. Moving the FDM window from the tablet to the external monitor must change the windows size to reflect the different scaling of the new monitor. The FDM window becomes enormous at 250% on a standard resolution monitor.

Installing FDM version 5 without manually installing version 3 may result in duplicate link catching. I got Chrome links to open in FDM version 5, but Firefox links to open in version 3. Perhaps I did something wrong with the plug-ins, and of course I could have deactivated this manually. I would still like to suggest that the version 5 installer could say "Would you like to deactivate link catching for your version 3 installation?" or something like that.

When I open the user interface, it says "Drag & Drop URL or torrent here". I had the URL in the clipboard and now I know I could have just clicked on "+", then OK (nice feature!). I just wanted to suggest that you could show the same "Add download - Enter download URL" window when there is a left or right mouse click in the drop box from an amateur.

Many thanks for the free download manager and good luck with the continued development of version 5!

Thank you for your full report and feature suggestions. We'll work to fix the issues.

When I try to download files with premium uploaded.net account I receive this bug all the time:

Apr 11, 2016 19:08:10 Connection 2 failed with error: HTTP Error 416: Requested Range Not Satisfiable
Apr 11, 2016 19:08:09 Connection 4 failed with error: HTTP Error 416: Requested Range Not Satisfiable

It happens in old beta and in newest.

It happens with no files being downloaded too.

Is FDM licensed under the GPL?

According to viewtopic.php?p=42019#p42019

Clive Sorensson wrote:Hello!

Sorry for the inconvenience. For now, we publish GPL for FDM 3 only. As for the new FDM5, its source code isn't available to the public yet.

You can try to create a repositery at GitHub, where you can create different branches for different versions of FDM, and you can try to receive pull requests if some people want to help you.

Hello Guys,

I am not up to date with your publishing strategies, so please bear with me if I say something that is not aligned with your policies..

I see that the current beta version is 5.1. Yet the last stable release was 3.9.7, which I am running.
My question is, when are you going to release a stable v5 of the program?

If a stable release in not in your upcoming future, how safe [or buggy] is the current beta release?

Thanks!!
Brother

Congratulations.

Will this eventually evolve into a download manager with a more usable user interface that will not be so confusing, scary and ugly?

I seriously doubt that people intend to run this on tablets and download their stuff on them, so why does it have such a clumsy touchy interface like for a wristwatch?

I could never understand what is behind this craziness. Is it just plain incompetence, or pure malice?
I have a large screen on my computer. Where are the menus and settings...? Oh, why are they hidden 3 clicks away instead of 1? And why all the convenient controls are painfully, almost maliciously, tucked away? To make more space for the vast vacuity of glaring white?

Oh, and why is it 4 times larger than its predecessor while offering 1/4 of its features and consuming perhaps 4 times as much memory? Because it is based on the over-bloated chrome framework?

Version 5.1.10 just released.

- Magnet links: speeded up finding peers in some cases.
- FDM couldn't update itself from server with some proxies.
- Fixed: MS Edge disappeared from monitoring settings.
- Torrent settings: Peer exchange & uTP turned on by default.
- Firefox extension: don't show "fatal error" after uninstalling FDM.
- Mac OS 10.11: dropping a magnet link directly to FDM Dock icon (without a delay) now works.
- A few stability improvements.

Various UI changes:
- Download list: hovering the mouse over the upload speed now reveals "Stop seeding" button.
- Windows: FDM main window now doesn't lose focus when context menu is opened.
- "Torrent" & "YouTube" are now filters, not tags.
- More clear icons for "Start all" & "Pause all".
- Bugfix: YouTube video quality list could be disabled sometimes.
- Can now rename a download (file or folder) when adding it. Actually, you could rename it in previous builds, but it wasn't clear from UI.
- Multiple minor fixes (mouse cursor, modal window widths, error messages, drag & drop tags, etc).

- Speeded up some actions. Quitting time should be not more than a few seconds (max 10 or 15 seconds if you have active torrents). Please report if it's 30 seconds or more.

I have requested & inquired previously too.

I am requesting info again -
Users have requested to not open main GUI on downloading, small window that appears is good plus small progress window would be good. And small popup window showing downloads in the bottom right corner of the system like in version 3 would be good too.

Are the above going to be implemented especially not open main GUI on downloading?

I have just moved over from the Lite version and I'm missing some options, am I blind (if so please tell me where to find them) or have they been removed?

. Default file save location so I don't have to keep pointing downloads to my desktop
. Remove completed option when right clicking, it seems you can do it for individual files but a remove all completed option would be great
. Option to remove the bottom bar where it shows file name, a thumbnail etc

And when I maximize from the taskbar the UI is messed up, half of it doesn't load properly until I maximize it again:

using the beta build for some time, and i think its more or less quite stable for regular use.

Technically, i don't face any problems with 3 clicks instead of 1. Peoples personal liking differ, that doesn't mean everything has to be exactly just like you want it to be. No offense, thou.

But, do have to agree with on the fact that FMD does eat a lot of memory. Which the devs will work to fix as they try to make it a stable build, i think.

* There is no default save file location, it usually saves in the last saved location
* That option is also not present, you need to manually delete them.
* There is an arrow on the bottom-right corner to open/close the panel. Single clicking a download-ed/ing file's thumbnail also open/close the panel.

Could you please describe step-by-step what precedes the problem? Does the issue occur when you maximize the window within the program, not from the taskbar?

I can't actually get it to do it today, yet it did it every single time I maximized from the taskbar yesterday. I'm assuming it's because I shutdown my PC overnight? Would FDM need a reboot to work properly? If it happens again I'll let you know.

For me it doesn't, every time I click a download it switches back to my downloads folder and I have to change it to desktop. Also, in the older version I could set it to automatically start the download without a pop up window asking me to do so, is that possible? If not I'd really love for that to be added along side a default save location option.

Shame, hopefully that gets added as well, it was very useful when downloading many files at once. I would also ask to reintroduce the automatically remove completed downloads from list option.

Thanks for the tip about the arrow, I found it.
