FDM1.5: Congrats and bug (browse for default group folder)

Postby dooplex » Tue Nov 30, 2004 1:30 am

Hi, Alex -

FDM 1.5 looks pretty damn good to me. It's great to see that you do take note of your user's feedback. While I personally didn't mind the inclusion of adware that I could easily opt out of (flame war begins!), enough people obviously felt strongly enough to object and it it is heartening to see that they have been heard. Thanks also particularly for modifying the "Download All" option to work with PPRuNe. It works very well now, both within IE and Firefox (my browser of choice).

Id like to mention a couple of things:

(1) I'll second the request for an easily-accessible changelog / "what's new" page or document. It's a big help.

(2) FDM 1.5 - in Group Properties, the default folder "Browse" button doesn't seem to work any more. I expected it to display the filesystem folder structure so I could choose (or create) an appropriate download folder. All I see is a mostly empty grey box, with a "Folder" field at the bottom. The "New Folder" button is also broken.

Many thanks for a fabulous piece of software,

Fixed. Please re-download FDM.
Thanks for your report.

Alex,

First of all many thanks for offering your program free and managing to do so over a period of time, I have used it from version 1 onwards and have never looked back to any other program, this one has served my purpose without any problems. Being a programmer, I am well aware of the constraints you face maintaining and offering a program for free, more power to you. It is hard for me to transfer money from where I live, when situation change, you can count on me to send you some donation.

As a request I would ask you to incorporate another very good freeware anti virus called Avast 4.5 to your AV list in the future, as of now it has to be configured manually.

Please don't get disheartened by all the negative comments, you have a very good program and it is getting better every day.

%Programs Folder%\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe?
I found it wasn't so difficult to find..... and to configure,
IMHO just add it in the next release...

Nice work, as ever, patience is rewarded.........

Alex, people just left no comment I should post! I also would like to donate if I could, but as to Arup, transfer is a bit difficult even if I have the ability.

You are simply GREAT!
