Default Download Directory

Postby DFDuck » Wed Aug 25, 2004 12:59 am

I made the mistake of ticking the "don't ask again" when it asks if you want to make the path the default path for every file. Now it defaults to that dir, which doesn't exist anymore, and I can't figure how to get that request dialog box to come back asking if I want to make it my default download dir.

I was going to delete the Group and start a new one, but there's no way to delete a Group that I can find. How do I change the default download path now?

Thank you

Search the registry for that path and change it there.
Start-> Run-> regedit

Well.. I guess that would work, but a rather kludgy way to go about it. What I really want is the dialog box to come up again asking if I want to make that the default download dir.

I'm downloading mp3 albums and want each album in its own dir. Having to change the path with regedit for each album would be pretty funky.

You can change default path for downloads in Group properties.

Ok, got that, thanks.

But what I really want is the requester back that asks me if I want to make the new dir the default. How do I get that requester back (short of reinstalling).

I am not using FDM, but I believe you should find this in Options. But whatever you do, DO NOT mess with the Reg. unless you know what you are doing.[/u]

You have to change the following value in the registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VicMan Software\Free Download Manager\Settings "LastGrp" to 1
