Just an update (3.0.871)
Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
Since the project is more dead than alive, I
took the time to look at the source.
I'll try to mainly fix bugs (UI-, connection, and login bugs) first, and perhaps then focus more
at adding new requests.
temp beta only on request : C.Anssens@cofidis.be

Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
I have the same problem than the previous user had:
Not all file types are catched by FDM from IE8:
for example: *.avi doesn't, but *.rar - works fine.
And why is FDM starting so slowly? It takes about 30-40 seconds for FDM window to appear after clicking a link.
And i also have annoying problem from previous versions:
When i start FDM from browser by helper from IE or extension for firefox FDM uses one settings preset, but if i launch fdm.exe directly - another! Is it only my problem (I use Windows XP SP3 RUS)?
PS: thanks a lot for a such good stuff.

Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
no new version for new year...!
no love for year 2010!

Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
Please have a look at the redirection issues too. If the download's URL is something.php?whatever FDM wants to download the .php file and can not find the real file for download if it isn't contained as e.g. http.site.com\something.exe in the URL (if there is anything more before that you have to just delete it). In fact it doesn't seem to be able to follow the redirection at all, whereas Internet Explorer itself has no problem.
However this is a very good program, continue the good work and please release a new version before the end of this new year!

Quote from my support email to FDM:
As stated in the subject
"FDM Is only downloading 7kb or so from Rapidshare Premium Account"
What can I do about this as i have tried and tried again but it won't download the entire file from rapidshare.com
It does this when I "Add Download"
Also I have tried to download from a links list with no luck at all. Seems to me so far your software does not work as it says it will.
Can you please help me get this going?

Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
Can this program use magnet links? If it can't, could you add support for them?
Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
I have the same problem.
As alternative, I import the RS links list from clipboard. It works!

I set up like 200+ Gbs of movies to download over night. I came back and found over half of the files at 7 kb. Guess what happend... Ran out of traffic from rapidshare. It said I have 100+ Gbs, I was not sure how much I actually had. But now I have been saving up my 5 Gb a day... Make sure you have enough traffic to download before you say FDM does not work as it says it will. I have been using over 7 different download managers and FDM works the best. Not one problem for me, cept with kaspersky blocking it. But that is not FDM's fault. Kaspersky also blocks all my webpages! I might have the settings to protective or something...
Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
Hi.
FDM doesn´t download the true files from Megaupload (free account) links, just ''index.html'';
i have to feed FDM from browser (after entering the captcha manually, waiting 25 secs, clicking 'free download', flashgot...), so, can't i give FDM a list of Megaupload links and let it do the rest?
Thanks.

Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
Hi,
cool, one forum, I can post without registering first...
I love FDM too, and use it as DLM for Firefox, as the one from FF isn't the one it should be.
I noticed since the betas of Firefox 3.6 that FF hangs on exit with 50% CPU power on a dual core cpu. I have to kill FF all the time. Now I began to sort out my extensions and I found out, that when I disable the FDLM-plugin FF exits fine. So it seems to be an incompatibility with your plugin in FF 3.6.
Were on build 848, but just upgraded to 871 here.
Let'see, but the changelog doesn't show any changes for Firefox.

Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
Hi Alex,
When I right click and go to download with fdm it does not give me the prompt to specify the download location/ add a password or comments.
I am sure there is some option that enables this again but for the live of me, I can not find it.
Help please?
Thanks.

Re: Just an update (3.0.871)
It is a real pity that this wonderful program has been left to die. It still rates very highly in most software sites but unfortunately more than a year has passed since its last significant official update, 3.0.848.
The subsequent minor updates, up to 3.0.871, failed to solve significant issues with the latest versions of the principal browsers (Internet Explorer 8, Firefox, Chrome, etc.).
Maybe its developers have more important things to do. Would it be possible to find some people with the expertise needed to continue FDM's development?
I still use it, even with its handicaps, but this grows progressively more difficult. I have not yet dared to make the change to Orbit Downloader, Fresh Download, Internet Download Manager, or other such programs, hoping that by some miracle FDM will resurrect from the dead!
I think that Alex could give us some information about the future of this project so that we could make a final decision on moving ahead to some other software. I still hold a tenuous hope in FDM's future though.
