Last version of FDM has some incorrect logic.

I am trying to download a file (Daemon Tools Lite):
http://mirror09.mountspace.com/getfile. ... taller.exe
As you see, FDM gets this URL, which has .php and FDM preparing for it group OTHERS, but it is not correct, because this link downloads .EXE, which should be placed in the Software group!

The logic is very simple and very old, unchanged for years. It was introduced in the ancient times, when FTP sites and direct download links were in common use. FDM determines download group basing on an original download URL. If file extension is not defined in any groups, "Other" group is used.
Currently such a simple logic doesn't work in most cases, as download sites use redirections and you really don't know what is hidden behind good-looking links. For example:
- In your URL *.php file is linked. Path to *.exe file is a parameter for redirection (stands after ?), not a direct download link. In short words - you can click link to *.php (*.html, *.asp etc.), but download *.exe instead.
- Direct download links to file hosting sites in most cases work properly only for logged-in premium account users. Other users for such links may download only error message or login request in text/plain ot text/html. In short words - you can click link to *.exe but download *.html instead.

Knowing that you can change download group manually (fe. change group to "Software" when downloading some rar files and "Video" or "Audio" when downloading some other rar files) or use more sophisticated features:
- You can define your own groups and associate them with specific sites using Site Manager (good for downloads from many subdomains working as a cloud).
- You can use macros for download ("Save to folder") paths.

Note that groups don't work at all for (flash) video downloads, but macros DO work when defining "Save to folder" manually.

Requests:
1) Replace the words "Free Download Manager" in the context menu entries (such as "Download with Free Download Manager") with "FDM" so as to have shorter / less wider, more sensible context menu entries.
2) Allow an option for cascading context menu to reduce height of the menu and keep it cleaner.

I installed LITE version. I previously used LITE version.
How come Bittorrent module is required for LITE version ?

Never mind.

Run FDM as Administrator and turn on video monitoring in FDM.

What about providing OpenSSL libs for HTTPS downloads from TLS only enabled sites? It was discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17016&p=40745&hilit=https+vista#p40755

Hi, I just noticed that the download page reverted to 1614. could you tell us what the reason for that is?

The FDM version has been temporarily reverted back to 1614 build due to problems with Google Safe Browsing. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully, the issue will be solved soon.

FDM is a desktop app for Windows, there is no Linux port so far. For more info see older topics in "Feature requests" subforum:

I don't use Google Chrome so I don't have to worry and other should uninstall Google Chrome if it is this much of a problem when FDM loads. I use on IE11, FF42 and it has no problem with 1623 version. I would avoid Chrome like a plague since it has proven itself unreliable as a Safe *cough* *pun* Broswer.
