Hi!
Thanks for the report.
This is expected behavior of... not FDM. Behavior of your bank. It certainly sets a number of restrictions that prevent 3rd party apps from downloading that SSL link. When you authorize, your bank's server "remembers" your browser and then "communicates" only with it via secure connection.

Thanks for this info D. Yessa. Just to clarify. you are saying it is to be expected that both FF & IE built-in downloaders are usually accepted (certainly IE) by banking secure websites but most 3rd party downloaders usually are not.
If so this explains a lot. I may try another third party app. to see if it is rejected, not because I have any intention of discarding FDM if it IS accepted, but for certainty this is the issue for MY particular bank's website (AND because I am curious )

It's clean install and 29b1 tells me that FDM extensions 1.6.0.1 is not supported, then I edit the C:\Program Files\Free Download Manager\Firefox\extension\install.rdf, set the maximum version to 30.
After then,I enable FDM extensions in Firefox.the First time I download using "Download with Free Download Manager" will warns me that.
In FDM settings.Monitoring Firefox is disabled,if you enable it and click OK.FDM will popup a warning like the one I've said above.Even I tried to choose OK or cancel,Monitoring Firefox will always be disabled.

I've detect that, this problem only appear when FDM is not running, and you use any feature of the Firefox extensions will cause FDM starting up with an error message like that.

Hi Guest ,
My O/S: Win 7 X64, FDM 3.9.3 Build 1360 Firefox is using Plugin 1.6.0.1
Well I could not resolve nor find a consistent happenning[ for me to latch on and investigate (or experiment with) /u] so I gave up. Fortunately I keep very regular Acronis true image backups (and a log of my changes/installs between backups) so I restored my C: Drive with my latest working FDM setup and FDM[u] is now working as before
I am NOT trying to explain anything as I am not an expert but I offer several observations.
1) I run CCleaner regularly to clean-up (including Firefox except "site preferences" - forget why I unchecked that but it was for a good reason at the time)
2) FDM Firefox 1.6.0.1 Plugin is working PERFECTLY however Firefox monitoring in FDM is UNTICKED. I am sure someone can explain this but I cannot.
In no circumstances will I tick it as Guest's warning occurs no matter what install/uninstall, FF open or closed combination I seemed to try last time.
3) As well as Folder & files for the FDM Plugin 1.6.0.1, I note old FDM FF plugin Folders and their files (1.5.8 & 1.6.0 ALSO populate "C:\ProgramData\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extensions\"
I have also noted a couple of Windows Registry entries refer to the old plugins as well as some referring to 1.6.0.1 (manual removal/changing the old registry entries and or old plugins caused FDM issues). Why these old entries remain or are not updated when FDM App or Plugins are installed/updated I do not know.
What I DO know is that FDM and its FF Plugin are working as intended when I believe they should not be with FDM's Firefox monitoring unticked.
I noted a FDM Forum post refers to Firefox caches but I feel sure CCleaner clears caches so caches do not seem a reason.
THESE ARE OBSERVATIONS not explanations. I leave that to experts.
I certainly would like to see Firefox monitoring ticked (as I feel it should be (as used to be - I do not know when that changed).
I cannot understand why ticking Firefox monitoring would cause issues (as Guest and I have experienced when MY FF Plugin 1.6.0.1 is ALREADY operating as if is Ticked.

1) I search the Forum a lot (as you keep suggesting in many recent posts rather than actually telling us where we can find a solution) but I admit I haven't read ALL the Forum posts to see if I have missed something nor, do I often know whether solutions found still apply to the latest FDM versions (often they do not especially when it come to FF plug-ins).
2) CCleaner is a highly rated cleaner which I have used for years without any issues and I trust it . It Blocks nothing and is not running in the background
I use it, because it can avoid issues caused by things left behind by past apps or older versions that should have been cleaned at uninstall or update.
Even most Windows O/Ss offers some clean-up capabilities more aggressive/sweeping than some of CCleaner's.
3) I DID try temporarily closing down my Avast anti-virus and Comodo Firewall and before one of my attempts to clean install the latest FDM but that made NO difference to the issues Guest and (I some others who do not post here) experienced .
I have not used Windows 7 UAC since 1 day after Win7 was clean installed 2½ years ago on a ne PC. (so UAC privilege blocking/restrictions/protection cannot be a cause).
3) Your comment ''and allow to do installers and programs what they should do, without blocking them by CCleaner, anti-virus or any other "security" software?" surprises me, as it seems not just to be referring to FDM.
IMO anybody who is willing to trust applications/programs installers without security software warning and protections enabled is asking for trouble. There are so many application authors/owners out there not so honest and trustworthy as FDM freedownloadmanager.org and FDM developers who use every trick in the book to try install Candy Ads, Malware tracking etc. eith their app installers.
I know FDM is trustworthy and I trust it 100% but that does not mean every user, especially NEW users know they can trust FDM as I do.
4) Although I am nothing like as knowledgeable as many here, I am knowledgeable enough to tell my protection software (if they ask/challenge) to allow FDM (and other software I trust) to install and do what they wish without blocking or restricting.
Even with me being careful some sneaky app installers occasionally get through with nasties in them and if I am concerned I have not removed all their tentacles after I do an un-install then I revert to my latest Acronis True Image Home backup for ultimate safety.
6) Finally I have used my protection applications for years (1 year for Avast) as have I used FDM for many years. Earlier FDM versions did not have ANY issues with me ticking Firefox monitoring nor did I seem to need a specific order with when FF should be open or closed when installing FDM, be it a clean or update install.
FYO my System is extremely stable with no BSODs or total freezes in 2 years or any known issues.
I suspect this post may be deleted as I have defended myself firmly (but fairly I believe)
If not, may I ask whether Developers maybe are putting too much of their valuable time into the new FDM Alpha and perhaps not enough time into Forum raised issues and solutions/patches/updates concerning the already excellent 3.9.x FDM and its FF plugins which IMO is less stable these days compared to to past.

Dave

Hey,man. I've tried many ways and finally solved the problem.
It's easy --- just delete the extensions.json file in your Firefox user preference folder if you have a version later than 26 (include 26)
Here's how to access it %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
I've forgget that you should delete FDM extensions file fdm_ffext@freedownloadmanager.org in the extensions folder too
If you have done so,you will have to re-enable all the other extensions in Firefox, then enable Monitoring Firefox in FDM.reinstall FDM extension in Firefox. Now everything goes OK.
and to User
I've heard that 3.9.4 is under development, wonder when will we see it?
and, have you fixed the FDM extension as the Guest do? http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/boar ... =30#p37968

Hi Guest ,
With regard to this quote AND your immediate previous post.
I tried to do exactly what I beleive you said, but after deleting the 2 files mentioned when I opened Firefox all my addons were still enabled. (maybe some caching or backup file was being used- no idea)
I then tried an extension (excuse the pun) of what you told me to do:
1) I first uninstalled FDM and deleted the "C:\ProgramData\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extensions\" folder which also (on my system removed 2 old plugin folder within it).
2) I also cleaned out all fdm & FreeDownloadManager references in my Windows Registry (yes I know a little risky BUT this ensures no leftovers fogging the issue (and I am VERY careful).
3) In addition to deleting extensions.json I ALSO deleted the other 3 extention files
extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite & extensions.log as well as extensions.json. Probably not all 4 needed to be deleted but i played safe
4) I did a clean install of the latest FDM. but I did not run it at that stage BECAUSE I wanted to open Firefox first to have a look at addons.
5) upon opening Firefox it asked if I wanted to install each of my addons and I said "YES" to each. they were all loaded DISABLED. The Firefox FDM plugin said it was incompatible with my FF 29Beta as expected . No problem I just edited the "C:\ProgramData\Free Download Manager\Firefox\Extensions\1.6.0.1\install.rdf" to a higher Version number.
6) With Firefox closed I ran FDM. This time, it opened without a message and when I looked at "Monitoring" Firefox was TICKED (Hooray ). AND I can untick or tick and that is rmemebered when FDM ise xited and reopened (previously after I ticked it always unticked itself).
Now I can enable Firefox integration by ticking or unticking as desired and after 20 minutes testing all seems to be working as desired (i.e using or not using FDM to download).
So a big thanks from me to you Guest.
I cannot deny I feel all our efforts and experimenting should not have been necessary as the workaround should not have been necessary.
I have 27 Firefox addons, 2 userscripts, 14 plugins, 1 dictionary & 6 User Styles (Stylish) on my PC all but 4 active and FDM was the ONLY one having interation issues.
Having said that the Plugin was NOT having any working issues only the FDM app monitoring integration was having issues And if I wished to use FF downloader only I just disabled FDM plugin via FF addons (and not the FDM app Monitor which was not working as it should until all the above measures.
Thanks again. I really love using FDM and it has given (and still does) great service. I did look at several others (only when I had the above unsolvable, by me, issue) and IMHO FDM is STILL THE BEST!!
Kind regards
Dave
Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
I'm getting a problem when trying to download flash videos from Firefox. It comes up with the following error message.
An error occurred when trying to transfer downloads to FDM. Error: 0x800702e4
Tried everything, a full reinstall of FDM, and the plugin, still no joy.
Running FDM version 3.9.3
Plugin version: 1.6.0.1
And FF version 28
Any ideas what the problem may be?

Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
I think you developers can lean something from this extension on AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefo ... r/?src=api, it can call FDM (and other download tools) and works with Firefox 30+, but it can't catch flash videos. I think you can learn something from its code.

Dear all,
In case our Firefox plugin can not be enabled in your browser, please try the following steps:
- Relaunch FDM client (to close FDM press Alt+X or Exit in the File menu or in the system tray) relaunch Firefox to check whether something has been changed;
- You should describe as detailed as possible all the actions you had done before to face this problem;
What FDM version did you use earlier? How did you update FDM and Firefox? Have you also done any other actions besides the simple program installation/uninstallation?
Based on the information related to the plugin compatibility with Firefox 29 provided on this forum by our users, we are not able to reproduce the problem on our side. Many thanks for the interest to Free Download Manager.
