Does FDM contains any adware or spyware I should know about? I went to download.com to check out the ratings and some reviewers claimed that it contains spyware in it. I'm really kind of skeptical so I came here to ask you to confirm this. If this indeed contains spyware, then is it harmless or not? If it's harmless , then I would give FDM a try.

Free Download Manager 1.45 had things that would be considered spyware by FDM users but the new version Free Download Manager 1.5 has none that I can find. Thats why I skipped the b1.45 when it came out but the latest one appears to be good and clean. Read some of the other threads. Enjoy!

Ok, thanks! I'm gonna download FDM and start using it. I have broadband (I'm a Comcast user) and I hope it has the ability to download very large files such as *.mpeg, *.avi, *.mov, *.wmv, etc. Oh, one more thing, since you said FDM version 1.5 does not contain any spyware, I'm gonna scan my PC with Adaware and Spybot just to make sure there's no hidden spyware.

I read through the licences agreements and everything ... no adware mentioned. But as version 1.45 did include adware, who the hell except the author of FDM could guarantee that? But he has never said anything, then I suspect there was still some hidden one included in it.

In term of Adware, at least on LeechGet site I could find "adware-free". So I would recommend LeechGet.

But since I never try both, I dont know about the speed. Anyone of you could give me a comparison? It's very nice if you could compare FDM with Flashget also. I used to use the later until I become too bored with the popup every 5 mins or so.
