How to use FDM?

Hoping someone here can enlighten me.

I just downloaded and installed FDM, after reading that it supports downloads of particular file types or whole web sites, spidering of sites, and downloading specific files from archives.

I can't figure out how to use any of those features. I've been through the UI but can't find what I'm looking for. I've also looked for documentation in the UI, on Google, and on this site, but haven't found any.

Are there any tutorials / how-tos available for this tool?

Many thanks.

Hello,

Please give me an example of what you would like to do using FDM.

Thank you for your reply, Alex.

At the moment, what I'd like to do is download all MP4 files in a particular directory structure on the Internet Archive. If I paste the root directory that I'm interested in into FDM, it simply tells me that the server returned a web page -- which is true, since the page in question is a directory listing of that root directory -- but I can find no way to tell FDM to "find all the MP4 files within this directory tree and download them".

I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Sorry, but such a feature does not exist. You can however try to open this directory in the web browser (in case it's possible) and download all the files using web extension.

OK Alex, thanks for the answer. Looks like FDM isn't appropriate for my use case. Guess the reviewers at TechRadar and Lifewire were mistaken about the functionality of the tool. I'll look for something more appropriate: I expect I may fall back on something simple like wget.

Thanks again!
