Re: Firefox 38.0.5 and 39 crashes on exit
I'm running Firefox 39b7
with Free Download Manager ver. 3.9.6 build 1556 (plugin 1.7.5.2)
on Windows XP SP3
and every time I close Firefox I get a window labeled
"nsAppShell:EventWindow: firefox.exe - Application error"
informing that
"The instruction at 0x10003990 refered memory at 0x0b700000. The memory could not be read."
If I disable FDM plugin this application error window don't shows up.

FDM ver. 3.9.6 build 1556 crashes Firefox 39.0 on close
Description: If download monitoring is enabled in Firefox 39.0 using the FDM plugin1.7.5.2, after closing Firefox, a pop-up message is displayed "Firefox has stopped working".
To Reproduce:
Both of the following demonstrate the issue:
1. On an existing Firefox 38.05 installation on which FDM ver. 3.9.6 build 1556 has been installed and set to monitor Firefox download, update to Firefox to ver. 39.0. Open and then close an instance of Firefox and observe the issue.
2. On an existing Firefox 39.0 installation on which FDM has not been installed, install FDM ver. 3.9.6 build 1556 and set it to monitor Firefox download. Open and then close an instance of Firefox and observe the issue.
To confirm that it is an FDM (plugin) issue, in the Firefox Add-ons Manager disable Free Download Manager plugin 1.7.5.2. Restart Firefox (the application should crash). Restart Firefox, and check the Add-ons Manager to verify that the FDM plugin is disabled (grayed out). Shut Firefox again, and it should no longer crash on closing.
This behavior occurs on Windows 8.1, using Firefox 39.0, FDM ver. 3.9.6 build 1556 and its installed plugin ver. 1.7.5.2,
It occurs whether there is an instance of the FDM application running or not.

Re: FDM ver. 3.9.6 build 1556 crashes Firefox 39.0 on close
Win7 x64
Firefox 39.0
FDM plugin 1.7.5.2
plugin just started causing firefox to crash on every exit/restart.
Upon disabling plugin crashes stop, when reenabled crashes begin again.
Firefox was updated a few days ago, was fine immediately afterwards, plugin seems to have been updated 1 day ago.
I updated fdm to ver 3.9.6 build 1556 and no change.

I have Free Download Manager version 3.96 build 1556 installed with Free Download Manager plugin version 1.7.5.2 in firefox 39 . When I enable the Free Download Manager plugin, every time I exit firefox it will crash. When I look at the details of the crash it lists the following:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: firefox.exe
Application Version: 39.0.0.5659
Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll
Sometimes the Fault Module Name will be mozglue.dll.
If I disable the Free Download Manager plugin the crash disappears.

Re: Firefox 38.0.5 and 39 crashes on exit
I now get a Windows error message 'Firefox has stopped working' every time I close the browser since upgrading to FF 39.0 last week - using FDM 3.9.6 Build 1556/FDM plugin Ver. 1.7.5.2/Windows 7 x64.

Re: Firefox 38.0.5 and 39 crashes on exit
Getting the same problem as others are having as well. I am using FF39 with FDM 3.9.6 build 1556 and experiencing crashes every-time I close FDM. So will there be a fixed or is this a conflict with FireFox now because of the Firefox change?
Re: Firefox 38.0.5 and 39 crashes on exit
Fixed in 1.7.5.4 version of extension. Just restart your FDM to update your extension to this version.

Re: Firefox 38.0.5 and 39 crashes on exit
Alex,
I've done that both with Firefox running and with it closed, but the plug-in is still at Ver.1.7.5.2. Would you advise a reinstall over the current version of FDM?
EDIT - just tried that, and it works! The FF plugin now shows as Ver.1.7.5.4, and Firefox doesn't give an error message on exit. Well done the FDM team!

Thanks Alex
I have installed the new FDM Plug-in 1.7.5.4.
EDIT regarding Firefox 40 BETA ONLY: Just to let you know the latest plugin does not work with FF40 Beta (which I am currently using), because Firefox has automatically disabled it saying it cannot be verified. I mentioned the same issue in another post several days ago regarding the previous FDM Plugin).
I will continue to use my workaround (Flashgot) mentioned below, unless Alex, you say I should not for some reason
May I ask 3 questions (if you have the time).
Background
Not being able to use FDM Plugin with 40 beta or 39 Release until this new FDM Plugin I searched for a temporary solutions. A couple of hours ago found a signed extension Flashgot (not Flashget) which seemed to be working perfectly as a FDM Plugin replacement or the last few hours for me.
I was allowed to try downloading something (having already told Flashgot hat I had nominated FDM as my chosen Download Manager. It stated it supports FDM amongst many others) and my non video downloads were working as they normally do with the FDM Plugin (essentially Flashgot's involvement was hidden). Essentially I clicked to download something and the FDM download pop-up appeared as usual (the only shortcoming seemed to be if I cancelled using FDM to download, then unlike FDM I was not offered the default Firefox downloader.
Flashgot ALSO integrated simply with FDM for downloading Videos. (I had FDM video monitoring off -was being ignored anyway as FDM plug-in was disabled).
MY question(s) Alex.
1) IF FDM plug-in goes down again due to another FF change is there any downside you are aware of, to Users using Flashgot as FDM Plugin substitute until you and your team are able to fix the official FDM plug-in.
2) Is there a reason why FDM Plug-ins seem more vulnerable to FF changes than other add-ons, that can in future be avoided.
3) Will your Team be ahead of the game and get your Plugin FF Extension Signed or will the new Plugin go down when FF 40 hits release.
Many Thanks, Alex

Tried it several times but FF still shows 1.7.5.2 and crashes on exit.
Should it update automatically or what else should I do?
Is there a way to update manually?

Update your FDM using the latest installer.
