Well, what have we here. FDM 1.5?

Postby Darren » Tue Nov 30, 2004 12:55 am

Let's see...

The NavExcel Spyware is gone. GREAT!

The "Make A Donation" button is no longer the main program feature. GREAT!

I can set auto updates to manual in the registry. GREAT!

I still liked the button style and size of the original, but the main issues were taken care of so, GREAT!

The bottom line. Version 1.5 is more like the jewel it once was was.
THANKS!
:D
And thanks for listening!

I completly agree with Darren... If FDM keeps on this way, it's gonna be my default downloadmanager for sure, and not only mine, but of many people also I think... Pls keep up the good work... and thx for the program :)

Man, I just love that dork. One day he spits at your face and calls you bad names; the day after he comes back like a little prick and licks your ass clean. It really takes one pathetic dumbfuck to ashame a whole nation! Good job Darren :)

Thank you...thank you very much. You see the spyware crap was removed though, don't you.
BTW...bring your little pansy ass here, and your anus will really hurt, because I'll put my foot in it.

In the registry, drill down to

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VicMan Software\Free Download Manager\Settings\Update]

On the right side, change Auto from 1 to 0
This is for v1.1, but it should be similar in v1.5
Of course, since I posted this, it will probably be changed in any future versions. Hopefully to include an option in the program.

You can also "break" the update function by changing the update address. Default is http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/update/. If you change that to http://127.0.0.1 (don't forget the http://) it wont work anymore because it will update while trying to connect to your pc itself because http://127.0.0.1 is your locale address.
You can find the update address settings in FMD in Options/General settings, tab Update

Yes, but that also breaks the "Check for updates now" option under "Help".

That's correct Darren. That's why the registry tric is a better one. But it's was just to point out a possibility for users who don't wanna change something in the registry.
