FDM 6
Re: FDM 6
I've got a weird issue now where the popup download box is not displaying anything, but when it pops up if I hit enter on the keyboard, the download proceeds.
I'm not sure where the error may be so I'm going to start by cleanly installing the latest FDM 6 and see if I can then replicate it.

Hello,
This is weird. A video would be useful.

Re: FDM 6
If the clean install doesn't fix it, I'll definitely submit a video via the help email.
With so many different pieces to the puzzle, I've decided to cleanly install all the .NET desktop runtimes, as well as all the VisualC++ Runtimes, before re-installing FDM. I'm installing it now and then will reboot and see if the problem persists. If so, I'll leave a note here and contact the help channel to submit the video.
On thing to note, though, this is not with today's build, but with the previous build 6.18.0.4888 - so I'll install today's release directly and see if it happens.

Re: FDM 6
After installing the new update, the only download site I seem to have an issue with is the download site Major Geeks. Yes I uninstalled the add-on on Firefox and Chrome and reinstalled it, and restarted, but Nothing would download on FDM, It could be a Major Geeks server issue I don't know, other downloads do work.

yeah I think it is the MG website
I also used to able to use FDM to download directly from majorgeeks
but now, to be able to add a file into FDM I must first get the RAW link
EXAMPLE:
https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/detail ... table.html
McAfee Stinger Portable 12.2.0.510
...
Download@MajorGeeks
clicking link goes to
https://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/getmirror ... ble,2.html
if I try adding that to FDM I get a null html file
so I choose to view-source: the mcafee_stinger_portable,2.html webpage
and Search for an .exe file and on line 213 I find
<!-- Debug: https://files2.majorgeeks.com/282...af7 ... ne.paf.exe -->
so I then COPY the file's link - from the https bit through to the .exe
and PASTE it into FDM
☞ file downloads as
McAfeeStingerPortable_12.2.0.510_English_online.paf.exe
441KB
excellent
.
Re: FDM 6
I don't see this issue with MG at all.
I tried the McAfee Stinger portable, which is 441 KB, so if you have the option skip FDM when files are smaller than 1 MB enabled, it goes directly to browser.
So I looked at another file that is larger - the Kindle App for Windows:
https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/detail ... or_pc.html
Click on Download EXE and it comes through FDM perfectly fine.
Firefox Nightly and FDM Addon with FDM 6.

Re: FDM 6
nah it works differently for me johnlgalt
I Click on Download EXE on MG webpage and it goes to:
https։//www.majorgeeks.com/mg/get/kindle_for_pc,1.html
"Downloading Kindle 1.39.65383
Kindle for PC allows you to read more than 360,000 Kindle electronic books on your PC. No Kindle required.
Your download will automatically start in 5 seconds. Please wait while we transfer you to the requested download or......
Click here if it does not."
note that all files have been blocked from downloading in my Vivaldi web browser.
so I COPY the file link from that webpage:
https://www.majorgeeks.com/index.php?ct ... =download&
and PASTE it into FDM
it comes up as:
index.php
which downloads as a 21.6 KB (22,140 bytes) in size null file.
so I get nothing.

Re: FDM 6
something weird on your end s4sharing cause i also use fdm with vivaldi but on win 7, it did catch the download properly on that kindle link, i doesnt even need to copy link manually.
Re: FDM 6
s4sharing wrote:note that all files have been blocked from downloading in my Vivaldi web browser.
So, I suspect this is the issue. Maybe allow Vivaldi to download with FDM and it will load automatically, no need to copy anything. That link that is on that page is a generic download link and will not work without the context of what page it is on - look at the entire link carefully and you'll notice that there is no mention of Kindle in there, so copying the link and pasting it into FDM will in fact always produce the same results as you're getting now. It needs the context of what page you're on right now when clicking that link.
Without blocking downloads, both the automatic download starts in FDM for me, as well as clicking that link (not copying the link).

Hello,
This is weird. A video would be useful.
It happens so randomly, that I've not been able to capture a video, as I usually need to have it working. But the initial popup box does display, but it it the title bar only, and so small I did not notice it when it first occurred. Now that I know what is happening, I can see it - the popup is there, but just showing the titlebar, and hitting enter on the KB activates the default button on the dialog, which is "Download" and then the progress dialog box pops up at normal size.
I suspect this may be related to DPI, as all my monitors are 4K and Windows recommends the DPI for all of them to be set to 150%, so that is what they are set to.
The fix is to disable "Enable standalone create new downloads windows" in Preferences, and then re-enable it. After that, the popup dialog box shows normally sized again.
Should I contact support through website to upload video?

Hello,
You can upload video to some file sharing site (e.g. https://anonfiles.com/) and then send me the link to it via the private message on this forum.

Re: FDM 6
when will new version come... the wait is too long.. kindly provide some info about the new update and what has been implemented and you are about to implement. I hope you will implement following features
1. UI enhancement like separate progressbar and ETA and similar font size as others, filename column is shorter.
2. browser enhancement like download buttons over the web players to download media in supported browser.
3. multiple instances of add download dialog to parse multiple link at a time.
4. separate parse link button to parse link using third party software like yt-dlp or youtube-dl.
thanks
