Windows 7 64 bit

Postby Cozmoz » Mon Jun 27, 2011 10:19 pm

Hi there,

Are there plans to release a 64 bit version of Free Download Manager? I have looked on the site and through the forum but could not find any clear information regarding this.

Just my two cents... I'm not sure I see the point in creating X64 fdm, not currently anyway. Most of what it does is based on your internet speed anyway, not processing power. Just an example, I use Blender 3-D, now that I jumped out of my skin for when I found it was boasting it's X64 version, far faster than the 32, taking advantage of my quad core.

FDM, I don't feel would benefit too greatly. I could be wrong, it may show some performance improvement somewhere, then again, I'm not sure I would notice, or anyone else. It's right on for me as it is currently.

Just my two cents as well. As of yet, I've seen very VERY little support for 64bit versions of browsers. For instance, IE comes in 32 & 64 bit versions, but if you want any of the plugins, toolbars, or other extras to work, you have to live with the 32 bit version. Firefox 5 was supposed to have a 64 bit, but I couldn't find it, likewise with Chrome.
