FDM 5.0 Alfa
Re: FDM 5.0 Alfa
You have deleted download link. What else you have broken in the new build?

A good ui change is what it requires the most
modified options are good

Re: FDM 5.0 Alfa
Now you have added two different links instead of old direct link. Are you going to change the links with every new build? If yes, why don't you add build number to the filename?

Re: FDM 5.0 Alfa
Hey where are the some important features of old version like schedule, priority, maximum running downloads etc? Those were cool features! They shouldn't be removed.
Re: FDM 5.0 Alfa
I hope the option to create new download groups becomes possible, because I tried the latest available version and I couldn't? Maybe a bug?
Thanks
Thanks

may be you people like FDM but i have a question/suggestion stop using super speed internet and try fdm in 10-15 Kbps gprs and you will find how horrible to wait web pages to load, video to play, download from file hosting sites. i like fdm to grab files from its URLs for video (youtube, metacafe, dailymotion etc), file sharing sites (rapidshare, hotfile etc) with captcha support.

Hello,
I'm trying FDM 5 for the first time in "portable mode". Apparently, FDM requires administrator privileges to save its settings data? Configuration data should be saved to the user profile; there's no reason for admin. privileges to be given to this.
Can you make FDM 5 save config. data to user profile folder instead? ???

Re: FDM 5.0 Alfa
1) I have tried out FDM5.0 Build 1255 twice on the last 10 days for a couple short test to get a feel but I seem to be missing something in my understanding Victoria because I cannot get FDM into Tray (Notification area) & I could not find any specific setting either. The FDM Icon FOR ME goes in the Start bar at the bottom where most apps go when opened but NOT the Tray (Notification area).
I have win7 Ultimate (x64). Additionally I did not uninstall the current latest build of 3.9.2 as seemed unnecessary.
2) on previous FDMs versions I do NOT have "Downloads> Essential" setting "Show downloading progress window: enabled because I have always used & preferred to enable "Show download info while in progress" because I can place the "Active Downloads" Window wherever I like and IMPORTANTLY reduce it to a very small size to show 1-3 downloads if running at same time.
On FDM 5.0 Alpha I cannot find this option. IF I have not missed something, it seems either I cannot see download progress on 5.0 OR if I wish to monitor it I must have the much larger FDM main download window open.
For me 1) & 2) capabilities are essential and will stop me moving beyond Release 3.9.2 (unless it ceases working with future Firefox/IE upgrades).
It seems 1) is supposed to work in 5.0 Alpha having read the changes log for 1255 and I assume I am fault it does not for me burt cannot see a what I have done/not done for it to work.
Can anybody tell me if 2) will be implemented to work as in 3.9.2, or whether there a better alternative I have missed in my testing.
I have now uninstalled and gone back to 3.9.2 as it currently serves me very well
Personally I like the cleaner IU of 5.0 (but admit I was very happy with 3.9.2 UI - BUT BEING FAIR I had got used to it over time. I feel 5.0 will be a faster learning curve for new users and looks modern and impressive.
If 1) & 2) are available to 5.0 I will be very happy to switch to FDM 5.0 Alpha and continue longer term testing (it seemed to work as normal for normal downloads I usually do and the Plugin seems to have integrated with Firefox 21 RELEASE just fine).
Hope my observations help and that someone can advise me.
I love FDM and have happily relied on it a long time as my only download choice.
Regards, Dave
