fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
pl fix it
Re: fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
FDM does not need fixing, you simply need to download the latest beta-release, which is easily available from the General Forum/FDM 3.5 thread. Had you taken a moment to read about Firefox 4 and FDM in the FDM forum, you could have avoided posting a meaningless plea to fix that which does not need fixing.
Re: fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
It does NOT work with 4.0 or with 3.6.17. You need to not be so snarky and help those of us who have been using FDM for YEARS and don't deserve the curt replies implying that we are stupid. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 3.6.16, .17, and 4.0 so many times now with all the recommended suggestions and it DOES NOT WORK after .16 even with RC 3.5 build 954. I have tried that Flashgot module and uninstalled it.... everything!
We are not stupid! Post the steps to get it to work instead of looking down your nose at us! We do love you after all or we wouldn't keep trying!

Re: fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
1. Read carefully How To Ask Questions The Smart Way.
2. Explain what exactly does not work:
- Have you turned on Firefox monitoring in FDM?
- Have you read about standard Firefox diagnostics? Have you tried to turn off other Firefox extensions?
- What problems have you got when downloading by clicking links?
- What problems have you got when downloading using context menu available after you clicked right mouse button?
- Have you got problems with all sites or with specific ones?
- Have you got problems with all types of downloads (exe, zip, rar, audio, video, flash etc.) or with specific ones?
- Have you read carefully help in FDM?
- Have you searched this forum for similar topics?
3. If you cannot (or don't want to) explain your problems here, ask your local IT guru.
4. If you still claim your product is faulty, read How to Return Something You've Bought in a Shop.

Re: fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
The message I get from FF add-ons is that it is not compatible and it automatically turns it off. I have tried the betas and they simply did not work.

I am using with firefox 3.6.17 and old version fdm 3.0 without a problem...

What version of Firefox?Guest wrote:The message I get from FF add-ons
It means you are using old FDM version.Guest wrote:is that it is not compatible and it automatically turns it off.
You are ignoring my explanations and questions from previous posts, so I am explaining for the last time:
1. Turn off Firefox. Wait until its process is really closed (you can check it in Task Manager).
2. Open main FDM window and close FDM using menu File | Exit (or press Alt+X).
3. Uninstall FDM. Make sure folder "C:Program files\Free Download Manager\Firefox\extension"
(or "c:\Program files(x86)\Free Download Manager\Firefox\extension" in 64-bit Windows) is empty or does NOT exist after uninstall.
4. Install the latest FDM from this forum.
5. If you are going to test Firefox using its beta versions, install Firefox extension called "Add-on Compatibility Reporter". Any other complaints about Firefox betas or add-ons compatibility send to Mozilla Forum.
What betas have you tried?Guest wrote: I have tried the betas and they simply did not work.
Why don't you install the latest FDM version (3.5 RC build 954)? It is RC - release candidate, more than beta.
Have you read other topics on Firefox? You can find all needed explanations there.
Why haven't you answered in details all my previous questions? Trolling is not welcome here.

Re: fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
I have the same problem. I made today new installation of WinXP, Mozilla Firefox 4.0 and FDM 3.0 build 852. Mozilla says that FDM is incompatible and that´s why it is off.
Re: fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
Do you still have the same problem with reading?

HI,
Even risking to be treated as a dump like others, I'll try to answer these questions:
I'm using fdm 3.7rc in FF 4.01
2. Explain what exactly does not work:
- Have you turned on Firefox monitoring in FDM?
Yes, I did.
- Have you read about standard Firefox diagnostics? Have you tried to turn off other Firefox extensions?
Where can I find those "standard Firefox diagnostics? What extensions?
- What problems have you got when downloading by clicking links?
Nothing happens... No pop up fdw window (as before)
- What problems have you got when downloading using context menu available after you clicked right mouse button?
They don't work at all
- Have you got problems with all sites or with specific ones?
In all sites it's the same
- Have you got problems with all types of downloads (exe, zip, rar, audio, video, flash etc.) or with specific ones?
With any tipe all download
- Have you read carefully help in FDM?
Yes, I did. (Ironically it doesn't HELP).
- Have you searched this forum for similar topics?
iSN'T THIS topic called "fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.02"? I have seen other complainint post and there's no answer except to install v. 3.5... Isn't 3.7 superior?
Any (useful) help? Please!
Re: fdm not working in Mozilla Firefox 4.0
It seems you did NOT read "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way" at all. You are still complaining instead of fully explaining.
* You have NOT specified your OS.
* You have not informed if you installed FDM as administrator.
* You haven't finished all troubleshooting from p.2. - use Google or Bing, not Baidu:
http://www.google.com/search?q=standard ... cs+Firefox
http://www.bing.com/search?q=standard+d ... cs+Firefox
I'm afraid I can't help you more. You have probably many more problems, so you should fix your whole system by yourself or rather ask your local IT guru, I think.
For me FDM 3.7 RC1 works with Firefox 4.0.1 in Windows 2000 (Pro), Windows XP SP3 (Home) and Windows 7 x64 SP1 (Home Premium) with click and right click.

I know this topic is for FFx v4, but is FDM 3.7RC1 supposed to be compatible with FFx v5RC1 also?
If it's not, I'll just wait.
