FDM 3.8 Release Candidate 4

You are right only partially, I think. It seems to me that FDM removes expired records from history also on startup and the difference is visible only for PCs with uptime longer then 24 h. I suppose FDM has no daily maintenance job defined.

Re: FDM 3.8 BETA
hello Alex,
i tried the HTML Spider (with options to download zip files as well).
but FDM 3.8BETA build 1041 (maybe earlier versions are affected also) seems to have problems to gather file names and extension correctly in following case:
if i download a file (zip file) via click on the link directly on the webpage, the file name (and date like of server [option: Set the date of a file identical to the date specified by the server]) of the downloaded file is correct.
but if the same file (zip-file) is downloaded in process of HTML Spider, the same link will produce a file on my hard disk named "file.htm".
the content of that file is not html but zip, that means, if i rename that file to e.g. "file.zip" i can use it normal.
this is an exsample of the link to the file:
http : // www . anyWebSite . com/file.php?art=abc&fil=1234&FileName=/0/filename0.zip
http : // www . anyWebSite . com/file.php?art=abc&fil=2345&FileName=/1/filename1.zip
http : // www . anyWebSite . com/file.php?art=abc&fil=3456&FileName=/2/filename2.zip
http : // www . anyWebSite . com/file.php?art=abc&fil=4567&FileName=/3/filename3.zip
...
on my hard disk the files that FDM produces:
dir\www . anyWebSite . com\file.htm
dir\www . anyWebSite . com\file(1).htm
dir\www . anyWebSite . com\file(2).htm
dir\www . anyWebSite . com\file(3).htm
...
these files are NOT html files - these files are zip files in real.
wrong file names, wrong file extensions and the folder structure for that files are incorrect too.
it should be something like this:
dir\www . anyWebSite . com\0\filename0.zip
dir\www . anyWebSite . com\1\filename1.zip
dir\www . anyWebSite . com\2\filename2.zip
dir\www . anyWebSite . com\3\filename3.zip
...
is there a way to fix it?
i use
windows7 x64
internet explorer 9
FDM 3.8 build 1041
PS.: the spaces in the exsample doesn't exists - i put them in only to bypass the limmitation of the forum message rules.

Re: FDM 3.8 BETA
OK, time for a real test - let's see if the Fx 5.0 compatibility also allows for Minefield compatibility

Please post here only the questions related to 3.8 version of FDM itself. For the other common questions create new topics instead.

Free Download Manager is rubbish programs.... Download to 99%, it would not continue to download

Your message doesn't contain any helpful information.Guest wrote:Free Download Manager is rubbish programs.... Download to 99%, it would not continue to download
You cannot resume download with any download manager if resuming is not allowed by the server-side.
Read "Download stops at 99% ang became not resumable" and other topics on broken downloads and download resuming.

Re: FDM 3.8 BETA
Alex,
thanks for the great FDM! It's been helping me a lot in downloading for years .
I have a couple of questions and suggestions.
First, it's about "Flash video downloads" feature. It seems it's also capable downloading non-Flash video file. For example, if you take a look at this link: http://blogs.jetbrains.com/dotnet/2011/ ... 6-is-here/, it hosts mp4 video files and no Flash video file. However, when I click "Download with FDM", a dialog appears and I notice that the downloaded file extension is defaulted to .flv and can't be changed to .mp4.
Thus, I'd like to suggest to have file extension in "Title" to match one in "URL", or better to make it configurable if it can't detect automatically what the file extension should be. Ability to copy the URL would be appreaciated as well here.
Also, it seems this feature can be generalized not limited to only downloading Flash video. I begin to wonder why it's named Flash video downloads. I guess it's because the player is usually created using Flash. However, the video file itself can be in any format supported by Flash.
Second, it's about context menu (I'm using IE9, BTW). Is it possible to have the default text in menu item "Download * with Free Download Manager" to be shortened to "Download * with FDM". Or better, to make the texts to be customizable. I've tried changing them in Registry, but it seems FDM constantly overwrite them with the default. I'm asking this because the context menu is getting wider and longer and hide larger visible content area behind it.
I hope these requests can be made into FDM.
Thanks.
