Hello!
Do you want to know if the interface has been translated into Chinese or if FDM 5 supports Unicode?
The interface hasn't been translated yet, and it's unclear when it will be,
FDM 5 does support Unicode.

Hope this helps.

the interface is simple and userfriendly. Good job.

However, when we download youtube video, audio and video are downloaded separately which is not read by dvd or any player.

Kindly rectify it.

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha - Save to Folder xml?

Postby PanPan78 » Fri Nov 14, 2014 10:18 am

Good morning,
as i've been searching for 'Save to Folder' topic and couldn't find if such a bug/limitation was already posted, did someone also noticed that already used folder location paths history may be lost but (last one?) such as C:\Users\<user>\Download ?
Cheers,
Daniel

I have used both FDM 3.x and FDM 5.x and both are awesome it their ways. but i want the same thing what is in FDM 5.x alpha in FDM 3.x.

but it is really irritate me that why you use old codes from FDM 3.x to build FDM 5.x. It is very hard to design new ones and by that you have to do less codes and troubleshooting is much easier. And please create a little smaller font size in next FDM 5.x.

Below is the files and folder as follows
fdm.exe (main application file)
fdm.dll (application extension of support protocol)
iefdmbho.dll (extension for IE and supported browser including context menu)
npfdm.dll (extension for browser support)
browserscatcher.dll (extension support for all browser to integrate- or u can name urself)
fdmsniffer.dll (catch videos from web players from all browsers)
addons folder contains *.crx, *.xpi and so on for all browser extension.
data folder contain all data
plugins folder contain all plugins like ytparsar.dll for youtube parsing, zip support and all.

thank you

tabletguy wrote:The single biggest change that would get a lot more people trying this is to allow both the current version and the 5.0 version to install and run on the same computer. In other words, offer to copy all settings from the current 3.9 version when installing, but then keep all the settings separate.

I , too, would have preferred to see the option to save or back up whatever i had in 3.9.xx i was up to. by accident, i did. but only through luck.
It had frozen somehow on me and stayed stuck through a couple of re-boots but magically came back...after i had installed 5alpha.
I have used fdm for many years, however long it has been around and had maybe 2 issues over the years. my fault i think both(or few)times. so few issues with it, seems like none at all.
I can only comment on what i see, I do not like the current interface, i see a post from victoria that indicates some things will be put back in. I do not like any trends toward minimalism on any OS just to make it easier on some pocket sized devices. I tend to appreciate the ability to customize what i put up on my screen. not be stuck with some 8color pallet as i had with my first mac, there were probably 256 and lower as many people recall. just going from montors which would support colors after mono chrome screens
Enough on that, just my feelings toward forward progress.
I have been so happy on the whole with how fdm has behaved in my browsers, with torrents and video downloading i look to it as standard must have default almost with every type of download.
I had gotten used to the fluidity in updates and changes, too.

Its been 2 & half months with no new alpha/beta version.

Any ETA for final version?

The below screenshot of FDM link info will be helpful in below features that is not available in the present versions

1. Youtube playlist download
2. multiple link analyzing simultaneously. (user can add more than one link of different sites like youtube, dailymotion and rapidshare at once).

Hello,

it's possible to add 'jolly character' if I have to download a file with a name that changes with the date?

Ex: if I have to download a file as: 'namefile21-11-2014.mp3', where 21 is the day, 11 the month and 2014 the year, it's possible to create a schedule name like 'namefile%day%-%month%-%year%.mp3'?

And another useful function: if I have to download the same file, but referred to morning..

ex: today is the 21st November 2014 and I have to download a file with the date of tomorrow as 'namefile22-11-2014', it's possible to create a schedule name like 'namefile%day+1%-%month%-%year%.mp3'?

thank you and best regards,
Massimo

the fdm 3.9 interface is better. Why do people have to make everything look dumb, flat, and screwgle chrome.

The interface might be OK for novices or those unfamiliar with the old (v3.9) FDM. But the rest of us would like to be able to switch back to the older interface so we can have access to all of the features. Is that something you might consider?

Also, with all the work you have put into v5, it still won't support Pale Moon (currently v25.1.0).
You may not be aware of this but there are a lot of people moving to Pale Moon from Firefox because the developers of Firefox have gone a tad crazy with changes to the user interface.

This seems to be a common theme lately. If it ain't broke, let's fix it anyway.

The main reason I use FDM is because it's open source. There are way better proprietary alternatives (Internet Download Accelerator for example).

Is this 5.0 "remake" still gonna be opensource? You are releasing here an alpha version with no source included, and the about window doesn't say much. There's no repository in github or anywhere that can help to see the development of this new version.

I welcome the UI changes, but if they mean that the software is no longer free and open source then I will look for alternatives. Maybe EagleGet
