FDM Linux version or run in WINE?

Why not make a Linux version?
I love your software and a tool like this is sure missing for Linux
Maybe you could also consider open sourcing your program?
Helps fix bugs and gives you media atention...
Just look at firefox...

I've noticed that there are several forum posts about "open sourcing" FDM. It would appear to be a good question for the FAQ. It also seems likely that the developers are ignoring these threads--there has been some comments suggesting this elsewhere. But I'm new here, and I hope that I'm wrong or that someone will point me to a more appropriate forum in which to, uh, make suggestions.

I would love to see FDM released under a DFSG-approved license. TrueDownloader is the most appealing free/libre download manager for MS Windows that I can find. I personally don't use Microsoft products and I believe that proprietary software is, at best, antisocial. I do recommend software to a lot of family, friends, and businesses that use Microsoft OS's; freeing FDM would allow me to promote it in those environments.

I think making a Linux FDM version would be a lot more helpful than making it open-source. I'm not saying that is a bad idea makign it opensource. The fact is that there isn't any good downloaders for linux. KGET sucks. FDM is a lot better than KGET.

Kget program is a standart download tool in kde but it has too few options. There are no download limits and this causes a problems with my co-workers sometimes.
And kget has too much bugs. It stops sometimes when you click pause download and so on and so on and no one develops kget sins 2002 year.

There will be a great use of fdm for linux. It's a very useful download manager and should be very useful for linux too.

D4X does not compile ot slackware. It works in just few releases of linux. Should be more useful if it compiled well

I don't think we'll see an open souring of FDM. Take a look at this post to see why I think so:

With a open source code, they wouldn't get any requests for custom branded versions, and they wouldn't earn any money.
