It seems to be a problem typical for file hosting services. Many file hosting services generate temporary links valid for a short period of time and limit number of connections (or downloads) per user (or IP address). If you stop downloading for longer time, the link will expire and you won't resume download. If you try to download too many files or make too many connections per download, the server may break all your connections.

Do you have problems with large downloads only?
Do you have problems with downloads from dropbox only?

Hey, thanks for the help. I only have trouble with large files, typically from dropbox. Files under 1 GB download just fine.

Every time I open and close FF, a firefox *32 process is left open. Disabling the FDM extension stops this from happening. I'm not sure how long this has been going on - I just noticed that Ccleaner lately has been saying that FF was still open. I'm pretty sure it was happening before I installed 3.9.7. I suspect it started with FF 42.0.

I suspect it's some extension conflict. I have no problem with Firefox 42 and FDM 3.9.7 build 1625 with extension version 2.0.19. Note that you can use this extension also with Firefox 64-bit.
It may be also a problem with too many open tabs or Firefox still streaming (flash) video. Firefox 32-bit may have problems with closing itself when it's size in memory reaches 1 GiB - you can check it in Windows Task Manager. I haven't do such tests for Firefox 64-bit yet, so any report will be welcome.

Just letting you know that today Firefox disabled the FDM extension. The reason given is that the extension is unsigned. You can read more here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ad ... in-firefox.

The page also explains how individual users can choose to override this. The limitation is you have to override it for all extensions, not just FDM. This could put you at risk.

What Firefox version, what FDM build, what version of FDM extension?

I'm sorry to write it again - you are complaining here and there. Follow the reporting rules, please, otherwise your messages will be ignored.

FF 43.0.1 update. FDM v3.9.6 build1614, FDM FF ext. v2.0.19.

I just installed FDM 5.0 build 65140 and the FF extension is re-enabled.

It's not the latest FDM build. You should install FDM 3.9.7 build 1625 instead of playing with FDM 5 preview.

This problem has been already reported (with working solution) here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16047&p=41193&hilit=private#p41192
I really don't know why it's not fixed yet.

I removed then re-added the FDM extension and now the problem is solved.

Postby KBL » Fri Jan 08, 2016 5:31 pm

It is selected as an option in monitoring context menu but never appears.
Firefox extension says all working ok.
Any ideas?

Hello, I've been having a problem where i try to right click on the thing im trying to download and the "'download with free download manager" isn't showing up anymore. I tried the "about:config, then change xpinstall.signatures.required value to false." thing, it worked one time then stop working. Can anyone help me out? Been using FDM for years and never had this problem.

Thanks

Please update FDM with its latest version. If the extension still appears in the updated browser, please remove it and follow these steps to enable the integration settings:

Make sure that the Browser Monitoring is turned on within the FDM client. As soon as you activate it, the FDM extension shall automatically appear in the browser, so you will only need to enable it.

Besides, if you wish to get video files, please be sure to activate the "Monitor Flash video downloads in browsers" option.

Hopefully, it will help you. Please let us know.

I can only use FDM via Flashgot on Firefox. I have nothing referring to FDM in the Firefox context menu. The "Download it" button does not appear.

Changed xpinstall.signatures.required to false. FDM is enabled.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled, added the extra components when prompted, restarted the browser, checked all necessary items under "Monitoring" and "Video Monitoring".

After all that didnt work, I then altered install, rdf: from <em:maxVersion>42.0</em:maxVersion> to <em:maxVersion>*.*.*</em:maxVersion>.

No help there.

Sorry, but I'm confused by this instruction. All I see is the entry "Free Download Manager 2.1.1" in the addon manager, which can only be disabled, not removed.

edit: Forgot to mention that this was tested on a fresh Firefox profile.

I rarely use Internet Explorer, so It didn't initially occur to me to test it, but I subsequently did. I can report that it operates on a fresh Internet Explorer 11, but it reacts very slowly to either capture method (download it button or context menu) in terms of the time it takes for the capture pop-up to appear (so much so that you think it may have failed to achieve a capture). One odd thing I noticed was was that if I clicked on and held either download button for several seconds and then let go, the popup window seems to react faster

I also noticed that the "download it" button does not disappear in IE when you hover over it. The last time I was able to actually get a "download it" button to emerge in Firefox, I could only use it by first right clicking on a video screen and bringing up the context menu, which kept the button from hiding when I moved towards it.
