First of all, hover some link on the download webpage and you'll see the full URL in the bottom line of your browser.
As I described earlier, context menu should work when the file name is passed as parameter in URL, just wait a little bit for redirection… But some links contain hash rather than file name – they redirect to mega.nz site that doesn't allow direct linking for anonymous users. In this case you should click the link and follow the redirection in your browser,

See the difference in bold below:
* This link uses internal redirection so it works with right click and "Download with FDM" from the context menu:
http://www.progettosnaps.net/download?tipo=flyers&file=pS_flyers_upd_185.zip
* This link redirects to external site, that doesn't allow direct linking, so you must go to that site in your browser:
http://www.progettosnaps.net/download?tipo=flyers&file=%23!01dHWCYL!h_xYcZVJZQssV08U6F_Ga1Ikvs9_ls_HfXnEOIKFA7E

Yes, I know it's a workaround, but changing action for "Open with" in Firefox may (or may NOT) work for some file types depending on other software associated with that file types, so it's even worse.

Right clicking and selecting "download with fdm" DOES work.
What DOES NOT work is changing the action to "open...with" fdm. All that does is download the file with the browser and then trying to open it with FDM (which results in opening the FDM main window and nothing else)

Hello,
This is because of Firefox not supporting WebExtensions API as well as we require.

It's even worse, see the following comment: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.c ... 245652#c12
It means that many file hosting services should be added to the skip list…

So WebExtension can't catch downloads from Dropbox, for example (link to webpage):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o01mzh50rf4dc ... arbour.zip
or (direct download link):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o01mzh50rf4dc ... r.zip?dl=1

I am on FDM (v5.1.33.6791 64bit) with Firefox (57.0.1 64bit) addon v3.0.3 on windows 10 64bit 1709. My problem is that firefox addon isn't updating. I did try many times by trying to update addons but in vain. Version is still 3.0.3. I don't know what to do now. Because this addon version is very buggy. Downloading a random file every time I open any page (even google news page). Can you give me xpi files so that I can manually update the addon? Or is their any other way to update the addon?

1st.. why have to jump through all this "SPAM" checking.. for such a tiny site..

Firefox.. new install.. no 64bit. It keeps trying to download some WIDGET when I am on Google.com. Then some mod site.. its now trying to download "index.html".. man the OLD ONE was SO MUCH better. Which is why I went back to that one.

Well my apologies if I did not mention this earlier. But right click update addon isn't working. Only notification I get is addon updates not found.

You really don't want to fight with that spam. Spambots automatically scan all the net and attack all unprotected phpBB forums (like ours). Just register, please, and you will be able to post links required by the reporting rules without solving CAPTCHA again and again.

Read the older messages in this topic before asking, please, or go to the newest message in the FDM FAQ topic.
Note that "some problem" on "some site" is a complaint rather than a problem report. You should follow the reporting rules if you want to get more details in answer.

Are you sure you have used the context menu for extension, not the sprocket-wheel button? Or maybe your antivirus or internet security software block some sites…
You can try to reinstall the WebExtension: Turn off FDM extension in Firefox and try to update inactive extension. If it didn't help, close the browser then turn off Firefox monitoring in FDM and close FDM. Restart FDM and turn on Firefox monitoring again, then run Firefox, make sure that FDM extension 3.0.3 is installed and turned on and once again try to update it. Can't do more tests now.

Tried everything. But unable to update. Between I am using Kaspersky Internet Security 18.0.0.405. Can I get the xpi for version 3.0.6 if its possible. I will manually update the addon.

FDM WebExtension 3.0.6 for Firefox is here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aqm4ZaWdL2tfghhPscFvMFmhrl_s on my OneDrive.
But you should better check your system, something may be wrong there. At least create a new Windows user account, log in and test Firefox and FDM on a clean user profile.

Thank you for the link. I will certainly check if something is wrong with the system as I even reinstalled firefox and reset my profile but still getting the same problem. Only happening with fdm addon. Rest of the addons I can update it without much fuss.
