i have a common question:
is it possible to limit the "HTML-Spider" to download all files that refer to a special path?

i want to download all files from that location - and exactly only from there
e.g.: "http://www.any-fake-website.com/resources/downloads"

what i mean is, that FDM now begin to search recursive from the root "http://www.any-fake-website.com/" for all references to the wanted path, and put only that to the download queue, that is on the wanted location.

and an other point, is it possible to set an RegEx (regular expression) to search for a match pattern in a website or ref tag, to put a special customized search?

Hello Alex
Can you change "Don't monitor for files smaller than" to at least 5 digits please.
So I can set it higher as 9999 KBytes.
Thanks

The FDM plugin is apparently not working with Firefox 8.0. :(
I've had to use Flashgot which doesn't work as smoothly instead.

I don't know what I do wrong, no matter which build of FDM i use, i never have any items under Complete, In Progress, Stopped or Scheduled in the Left Pane filters section.

Please, how can i have the appropriate items to show there, so i can see an overview of my current FDM session.

Were that true, then the fact that I am using Firefox 8 with the FDM plugin would not be true; given that the latter is true, then the former must logically be untrue.

Were you to read this thread, and were you to download the latest beta release of FDM, and were you to follow the directions given in this thread, you would find that my statement is true, yours false.

NOT working with FF 8 3rd party build. The FDM plugin shows up as an add-on, but still would not work. I finally copied the plugin from the plugins directory for the official FF 8 build to the plugins directory of the custom FF 8 build and now FDM works. :)

That you are using a third-party build was not mentioned in your original post; it is rather helpful to provide any and all needed information. Had you done so, I'd not have bothered to post my first reply to you, as I have no knowledge whatsoever about FMD vs. third-part Firefox builds.

I have similar eperiences with several servers. Even if I exclude htm, html and php
it downloads them instead of the real file. Not always though... Never on sourceforge
for example. Is it our configuration or is it that these sites just don't like download
managers in general?

Sorry for this posting, but I still don't understand the behavior of FDM. I already posted the behavior of FDM to use only 2 chunks for every file during a download, independent of all network settings made and - what I especially don't understand - it even doesn't react on my 'create one more section' clicks, even when network settings are set to manual configuration.
For some files it used more chunks, but now for a longer time for unknown reasons it fell back to this old behavior.

The same downloads are handled by DownThemAll, the Firefox-AddOn, with as many chunks as demanded on a speed, which is around 10 times higher than FDM... this looks to me very strange, especially when it is told, that this isn't a bug... so FDM is that boring slow intentionally??? :?:  :?:

One link I used:

http://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/project/ ... indows.msi

FDM used 2 chunks, DTA 10. FDM's speed was about 130 kb/s, DTA's 1.3 Mb/s. Measured between 8:50 pm - 9:00 pm CET, seperate downloads of course.

I use WIN 7 Home prem. 64.

Last time you asked me, what I expect from FDM,... well, I expect it to be as quick as DTA (BTW, although I dislike it, Orbit is roughly as quick as DTA). And I expect it to use the number of chunks I choose - at least when I disable automatic network settings.

HI!

Please export your FDM's settings and send the resulting file to support email.

4 more bugs:

1.) My Downloads all stopped. I did not know why. Try to start one by one - stopped again.
Then - I started DL with the standard IE downloader. Started and then after 20% error message:
"Disk space is too low". Thats when I knew, why FDM did not even start the DL.
Because there was not enough disk space available, but FDM did not tell me.
Please add this error message for low disk space ?!

2.) I paused all DL's with the button (left of settings) -
By moving the mouse over the button it says "Pause All Downloads".
But once its done and all DL's are already stopped.
The little help should read "RESUME DL's", but it still says "Pause all DL's".
Its confusing, because its for resuming again, but says different.

3.) Like everybody else I played a little with the adjustments to find the best settings.
Especially the Network settings with number of connections and so on.
But now I wanna go back to the original standard settings.
And I can't go back, because I forgot the settings and FDM does not tell me.
Please add a choice in Settings:
"Change all settings Back to DEFAULT value"

4.) Under the Speed column, it shows the actual speed.
But where is the average speed?
Wouldn't it be nice to add a column with AVG - Speed, that also displays
the AVG-Speed, when the DL's is done and has reached 100%.
If I move my laptop around in different WLAN's, I would like to know, which one was better.
For this purpose a simple Average Speed display would be helpful. ?!?

Thanks!!

Hi again, Alex.

One more useful feature:
Please, add option to manually control download speed at FDM's window.
I guess, 3 (low, medium, high) fixed speeds aren't enough.

Thanks for the greatest Download Manager Ever! :)

P.S. I have Win7 x64 (to previous issue from me).

how about allowing the user to create as many custom profiles as he wants (removing light, medium, heavy) and let him chose em on the download window through a drop down of some sort
