Nowhere. NOWHERE. There is NO link to current FDM plugin for Firefox as a separate (standalone) download.
Whatever link to the plugin you find here or there, DO NOT USE IT. Use only current FDM installer - it contains also FDM plugin for Firefox.

For all people who need to get FDM working with newer builds of FX, Usher already has the appropriate way to do it.

From the FAQ, go to this topic specifically: viewtopic.php?p=36150#p36150

I have linked the FAQ in my sig in case you cannot easily find it / the link above is brken / any other reason.

Also, I've managed to edit the install.rdf and bum it to 27, and FDM worked perfectly fine in Firefox Nightly 26.0a1 (2013-08-19).

Dear Users!

Please try considering the following guideline:

1. Please find the folder in the directory:
c:\Program Files\Free Download Manager\Firefox\extension\
or
c:\Program Files (x86)\Free Download Manager\Firefox\extension\

2. Оpen the "install.rdf" file, find the following section:

<em:targetApplication> <!-- Firefox -->
<Description>
<em:id>{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}</em:id>
<em:minVersion>1.5</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>24.*</em:maxVersion>
</Description>
</em:targetApplication>

3. Replace the "24.*" version number by "26.*"

Your feedbacks are welcome!

This did not work, but the editing the install.rdf in the folder (Windows XP):

c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Free Download Manager\Firefox\extension\

did work. In Windows 7 and 8 i guess the folder is:

c:\Users\All Users\Application Data\Free Download Manager\Firefox\extension\

I found this by looking in the folder

c:\Documents and Settings\*My user name*\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*some random name*\extensions\

and there is a file named

fdm_ffext@freedownloadmanager.org

which contains the path where the actual extension is located.

Hope this helps

It means you have installed standalone FDM plugin for Firefox, which is NOT RECOMMENDED. You should completely remove it and use only plugin installed in location shown by Victoria or described in FAQ.

This enables the addon in Firefox again (in my case, v25beta), but it wasn't until I re-enabled monitoring in FDM settings that FDM popped up when I initiated a download from Firefox.

Open FDM then select, Options Menu/Settings/Monitoring, Firefox checkbox, then restart Firefox.

Really pleased that this is working again!

Just checked with Mozilla Nightly, and works with that as well (I used a maxVersion figure of 27)

I made it 28 to future proof it a bit. Works on all flavors of Fx now.

When I open the install.rfd file I get. This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. I should install the extension, right? I want to up date it for the new nightly build 28 that just came out. Thanks.

You should open install.rdf in a text editor (f.e. notepad), not in any XML browser.

With the new Fx 28.0a1 out (Nightly aka Minefield brew) you {may} need to follow the procedure that I linked above in order to get the plugin working correctly with Nightly. I just went through it and it is working again.

Thanks again, Usher, for that detailed writeup.
