FDM 3.9.5

Postby Alex » Mon Feb 16, 2015 1:08 am

Hello!

This version aims to greatly improve the user experience of those users who need to download non-English things, and who frequently download things from the YouTube video service.
The most important thing is extended Unicode support which allows to create filenames in any language and to create FDM versions in any language (f.e. Sinhala or Georgian). On the other side, Unicode support requires changes in FDM service files (*.sav) that make them incompatible with older FDM versions. DO BACKUP your *.sav files before installing FDM 3.9.5.

We kindly ask all the users who helped us translate FDM from English to their native languages - to convert the language files they worked on to Unicode version. To do this, please open your language file in Windows Notepad and navigate to File - Save As ... . Then choose the Unicode format. Once saved - please send it to us the usual way. Thank you in advance! :)

WARNING: Sorry to inform you that FDM5 is currently not capable of properly importing downloads from this version. So please make sure to uninstall this version completely before installing FDM5.

No better refine FDM 5. Why the beta, how many people are expected to release the fifth. Time FDM 5 beta, and not 3.9.5. :(

At last. I think it should be full-featured FDM 4.0 soon. One explanation only: "Unicode" may be Windows default UTF-16 or Internet default UTF-8, so you should state more clear that you mean UTF-16.

FDM supports both UTF-8 and UTF-16LE formats of language files.
But we prefer for the language files to be in UTF-16LE format ("Unicode" format in Windows Notepad).

I tried this latest version.
Video download works. But some downloads it mentioned the video has seperate audio channel & fdm will automatically select the audio channel but it downloads 2 files video & audio & doesn't combine them so when video is played no sound as audio file is not merged with video.

Like fdm 5 alpha, can you plzz also make video download like rightclick on video clips & click download with fdm & you get all the resolution options?

And can you plzz improve torrent client a little in this version i.e current stable version doesn't gives the option to select the files to download i.e dont remember now but think after download starts you can edit files selection, but would be good if you can select files to download before starting download.

And on DailyMotion, fdm only gives .flv format & no other format.

And I keep this option disabled "start download automatically (after "silent" creation)".
File download works fine i.e I get the download window & I click OK & download starts.
But video download doesn't starts i.e I select the resolution I want to download & click OK but nothing happens. GUI shows download stop. And when I rightclick the stopped download entry & click start download, the download starts. Is this option "start download automatically (after "silent" creation)" required to be enabled to download videos automatically?

One more link, I chose 480p
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh0eWc6wmv0

I tried to download few 480p videos. For all 480p videos it mentioned seperate audio channel & it will merge them but it doesn't merge them.

1. There is a regression in proxy settings. When you set "Don't use any proxy" (InternetAccessType=0 in registry) and restart FDM, it crashes. Sometimes it displays "Free Download Manager - fatal error occured" dialog window, sometimes it just blinks and disappears. FDM crashes also when you use regedit to manually set InternetAccessType to any undefined value (4, 5 or greater).

2. FDM works OK with pol.lng file converted to UTF-16LE, but it does wrong conversion for strings provided by kernel32.dll. For example FDM displays:
Istniejce poczenie zostao gwatownie zamknite przez zdalnego hosta
but it should be:
Istniejące połączenie zostało gwałtownie zamknięte przez zdalnego hosta

3. Torrent support is not updated - FDM 3.9.5 uses lib in 3.9.1040 version while FDM 5 alpha uses 3.9.1059 version. There are many problems with this lib, some of them are already fixed in FDM 5, so updates should be ported to FDM 3.9.5 ASAP. For example:
- When you select some files to download from torrent package, FDM doesn't download proper torrent pieces and shows misleading info. In many cases you must download all files in torrent to get only one needed file. This bug is fixed in FDM 5.
- FDM doesn't recalculate hashes/checksums for completely missing torrent pieces. FDM may create empty sparse files and show 100% download completed. This bug isn't fixed.
- FDM recalculates hashes on the program start/closing. For huge torrents it may take a few minutes and cause timeout problems when you trying to start download or to shutdown system. There is no option to recalculate hashes on demand.
- FDM 3.x may run only 20 active torrents. You cannot run any more downloads even if all torrents are displayed with yellow arrow. If you start more torrents, FDM may crash and damage its service files.

Will be fixed in the next update. Thanks for the report.

Please provide more details so I could locate the problem code. What is the type of download? Is it a torrent download?

Sorry cant post log as I tried it under Shadow Defender.

Could the prob be due to shadow defender or stable fdm as I did over install of beta under Shadow defender?
