You are not alone. I already brought this up on January 13 when FF was still at version 18.0 (I think). Now that it is at ver. 18.0.1 and FDM at build 1289 there's no improvement. Firefox freezes (not responding) for about 10 secs. especially when there's a flash video on a page that is open.

Dear Users!

As it comes from our testing, FDM 3.9.2.1289 does work with Firfox 17 - 18 flawlessly, both with regular and Flash video downloads. That's why, we would like to ask you to add some screenshots with crash reports, as well as links to your downloads. Maybe, this will allow to find out the reason of your issues and to rectify them sooner.

1. If you run FDM, then run firefox firefox appeared collapse (Firefox did not open any page), as:(Upload pictures not found)
2. If you run Firefox, then run the FDM firefox crashes immediately (Firefox does not open any page).

Erix, I think the way an ISP enforces maximum DL speed accounts for the total rate of all connections (ports, or sessions). More sessions are not going to help except for a very fast ISP. Maybe 50 Mbs or more will need more than 20 sessions. Enjoy, J.

Mine doesn't crash actually. FF just freezes for a couple of seconds (10-15 secs) and says 'not responding' each time there are PDF or flash videos on some of my TABS. It seems that FDM is trying to buffer the contents even though I'm not downloading the flash videos nor the PDF files yet. I was just viewing the contents. It happens on any site that has FV and PDF, especially if the files are big. I suspect it's a memory issue but I'm wondering why it happens on a 4GB RAM, quad-core Intel CPU and a decent graphics card. My CPU usage is not even more than 30% and RAM usage is 60% (yes it's high because of the large FV that is already fully loaded in the buffer.) The FV is around 200MB. Note that this doesn't happen if FDM is disabled from my add-ons. So now if I want to download FVs using FDM I shift to IE to get them. IE never had this problem with FDM.

This build crashes immediately on the start without any specific error message. It just reports fatal error (bug). Win XP SP3 fully updated.

Previous builds had a bug of incorrect saving of HTML Spider downloads. Please try to delete spider.sav file and let me know about the result.

It worked, but it's still something wrong. I added a new download for HTML spider to create a new spider.sav file, then I stopped that download and tried to delete it. FDM crashed again.

I don't see a crash report from you. Could you reproduce this and send the report?

I'm sorry, I can't reproduce it now. Maybe it was some corrupted memory after the first crash. But whatever it was, it should NOT occur at all. FDM should report corrupted data instead of crashing.
BTW. I have no info about my download.sav file broken by FDM 5 alfa that I have sent to vaneo.

1289 will not auto find new version 1294. Previous point release updated fine.

So if I manually go and download the new version it will not install without removing the current version after a reboot. I believe you have really got to find a smoother update process, where components are deactivated and the update installed in most situations.

When I delete an a file that I have download or started download and did not finish FDM crashes. It did it on build 1289. I updated to build 1294 and it still crashes.

"Compatibility issue with Internet Explorer 10."

I think it's broken again with build 1294, e.g.: DISQUS comments won't load in FileHippo.com.

there is a bug with FDM 3.9.x (all versions) when is used in NAT.

for example when FDM is downloading something in MEDIUM or LOW it download more slow in FDM as should be, but inside the NAT it start to consume all the bandwidth.

example:

so the others computer in the NAT can't use internet properly due FDM is using the whole bandwidth.

Sorry, false alarm. It's the Tracking Protection issue that is blocking googleapis.com domain that caused the issue.
