FDM remains in memory when closed

Postby Kirby » Fri Sep 17, 2004 5:23 pm

whenever I exit out of FDM, fdm.exe still remains in memory (in the Task Manager). And FDM is not in the taskbar  Is this a bug?

I'm using Windows XP Service Pack 2

like most download managers, FDM remains in the system tray for easy access. it's not a bug, but a nice feature :)

How do you exit out of it? Do you press close button or use File->Exit?

it doesn't matter really. Closing via File -> Exit and the right-click taskbar icon still leaves fdm in the background

I tried 1.1...still happens :(

Please go to support page and describe this problem in more detail (including OS, IE version, etc).

Try right clicking the drop zone or the system tray icon.

Or go to Options--General Settings and uncheck Minimize to Tray and Close Button Minimizes Window options.

I found the problem:

FDM not closing down fully is caused by the program grxp4exe.exe.....it's part of the Gravis Xperience drivers.

When this program is not in the background, FDM shuts down normally

Ugh, you wouldn't believe how many problems I've encountered because of those stupid Gravis drivers. Conflicts, programs not installing, etc. The worst part is they refuse to fix the problem or update their drivers. I know one thing for sure, I will never buy another Gravis product again.
