Just updated to version 5.15 and its useless. Wont download anything other than HTML files.

Used to have a download button which appeared over most videos, now gone.

Used to have a right click context menu item to download now gone.

Nothing else has changed, only the update to the above version.

Copy URL to the drag and drop box........... no video files.

Can anyone explain how you can actually get this program to work ?

I am using 3.9.7 (Build 1627) with currently Firefox 39.01b (Beta) WIn. 10 Ver 1511 until 02/08/16, and now Ver. 1607 (Anniversary) since.

I am having some (average about 1 in 10) Firefox crashes/hanging at shut down only with latest two Beta versions (38 & 39).

My 8 latest submitted FF about:crashes reports show different dlls picked out in dark Red BUT all 8 crash reports include FdmBhSniffDllProxy.dll (its version is 1.0.0.6)

In varying occasions the few other dlls that have appeared highlighted in dark red with FdmBhSniffDllProxy.dll are: winmm.dll, ucrtbase.dll, win32u.dll, KERNELBASE.dll, Kernel32.dll, ntdll.dll and nwgf2um.dll,.

May I ask the Dev Team/Mods what exactly is FdmBhSniffDllProxy.dll?
What is it needed for?
Do they think it a possible candidate for my FF shutdown issues?

Whilst waiting for a reply (if a member of the FDM Team has time, I have just temporarily removed FdmBhSniffDllProxy.dll from the main FDM Folder and closed and restarted FDM to see if the FF hangs/crashes at shutdown cease to not. Assuming the dll is not still in memory, its removal SO FAR does not seem to have affected FF downloads or things I look at or use in FDM normally (or none I have yet noticed  ). I however feel this dll must be important, otherwise the Dev Team would not have included it.

I'm happy to provide any further info DEV Team requires if they believe FdmBhSniffDllProxy.dll MAY be the cause (or part) of these FF shutdown hangs/crashes.

UPDATE to above post

Hi, I have just noticed Clive's advice to another poster referring to FF FDM Extension Plugin 2.1.11. This surprised me as I have the newest update build for 3.9.7 BUT not that plug-in (mine is older).

I have now downloaded FDM and installed it and now I do have FDM plug-in 2.1.11. AS I was using an older version of the FDM plug-in when I posted, this obviously now brings into question my reported findings in my post (IF FDM is even involved in my hangs, which is far from certain anyway).

Consequently, until I see whether the FF hangs on shut down still occurs or not and if so, whether FdmBhSniffDllProxy.dll is still referred to in any about:crash reports I believe my post should be totally ignored at this stage.

I apologize to the FDM Team and others, if any of you have started to consider the finding in my post.. I always keep my apps up to date (via SUmo daily scans) but somehow I missed the latest FDM plug-in update and embarrassingly it seems I missed it for many weeks.

Dear User!

Try to delete the key "fdm_ffext@freedownloadmanager.org" using the Registry Editor "regedit".
It's stored in the following folder "HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Extensions"
Thus, you'll delete the Firefox extension.
And then re-enable the monitoring of Firefox and restart the browser. The latest extension must be reinstalled.

Clive

Dear User!

The extension is installed when the integration with FireFox in the FDM settings is switched on, after the installation, you need to restart FDM.
Which version of the extension do you have and why do you want to upgrade it?
What operating system and version of FireFox are you running?

I have since a few days the problem, that the borwser helper exe crashes during the Firefox ESR 45.4.0 usage after some hours with the Popup "Fatal error: browser helper exe unexpected shutdown. Please restart the browser to continue the use of Free Download Manager extension".

Deinstall the addon, restart browser and reinstall the adddon didn't help.

Windows 8.1 64bit full patched, FDM Add On 2.1.13, Firefox ESR 45.4.0

Maybe the problem is since the November security Update from Windows?

Can you help?

Firefox 32- or 64-bit? What about conflicts with other add-ons?

Do you really keep your Firefox open for many hours? How many tabs do you open? How many memory does your browser use? What about memory-hogging flashplayer plugin?

I was having an issue with Flash constantly crashing in Firefox 49.0.2 and some people over on Mozillazine helped analyze the crash logs and felt that for some strange reason FDM was somehow causing it. Another user mentioned that they had experienced the same problem. I uninstalled 3.9.x and restarted FireFox and then installed the latest 3.9.7 build 1627 and enabled the FDM add-in 2.1.13 and Flash is no longer crashing but for some reason the browser add-in doesn't appear to be working since every time I try and download anything I just get the regular Firefox download dialog and the FDM download dialog is not coming up.

I'm really not sure why this isn't working because FDM was previously working properly, it was just that Flash kept crashing on every page that required it. Any idea's anyone?

Firefox 32bit, no problems with other add-ons and I have for month no new add-ons installed.

Firefox is open all the time with 2-5 opened tabs and memory usage is about 600MB - 1.5GB (PC has 16GB), flash plugin exists.

Another theory: the crash happened at the moment with tweetdeck.com tab in the background, tweetdeck has streaming updates for the tweets, therefore the browser (and fdm add-on?) has as constant, incomming traffic.

But I use tweetdeck also for month without any problems, therefore i think, it must also be a combination with the November Windows update.
