Hi,
There seems to be a problem with the import option from other managers, the dialog box seems to have some problems!

sorry my mistake :s
I am translating FDM and it looks like I have accidentally deleted one of the lines
Re: FDM 3.8 BETA
"Flash video" means "video served/streamed using Flash add-on", not "video in flash/flv format". Old flash/flv format is some incomplete H.263 variant, and Flash add-on in newest versions have full support for both H.263 and H.264 compressions so Flash-based players can play classic FLV files (with FLV signature) and mpeg streams with real h.263/h.264 compression (regardless of file extension or signature).mahara wrote:First, it's about "Flash video downloads" feature. It seems it's also capable downloading non-Flash video file.
Also, it seems this feature can be generalized not limited to only downloading Flash video. I begin to wonder why it's named Flash video downloads. I guess it's because the player is usually created using Flash. However, the video file itself can be in any format supported by Flash.
As I described earlier, it may be a problem only for some older video player that:mahara wrote:For example, if you take a look at this link: http://blogs.jetbrains.com/dotnet/2011/ ... 6-is-here/, it hosts mp4 video files and no Flash video file. However, when I click "Download with FDM", a dialog appears and I notice that the downloaded file extension is defaulted to .flv and can't be changed to .mp4.
- try to decode file basing on its extension instead of file and codecs signatures;
- don't support h.264 compression.
Most new video players just treat file with FLV extension as a container, not compression format.
Well, these suggesions will be useful.mahara wrote:Thus, I'd like to suggest to have file extension in "Title" to match one in "URL", or better to make it configurable if it can't detect automatically what the file extension should be. Ability to copy the URL would be appreaciated as well here.
All text strings are taken from lng files. They are in "Languages" subdirectory of Free Download Manager directory, f.e. eng.lng contain text strings in English, far.lng - in Farsi, pt_br.lng - in Brasilian Portuguese etc. You can edit those files or create new ones on your own. If you want to keep your changes, copy file under new name and change language name define inside the file. You can find more about editing in Translations subforum.mahara wrote:Second, it's about context menu (I'm using IE9, BTW). Is it possible to have the default text in menu item "Download * with Free Download Manager" to be shortened to "Download * with FDM". Or better, to make the texts to be customizable. I've tried changing them in Registry, but it seems FDM constantly overwrite them with the default. I'm asking this because the context menu is getting wider and longer and hide larger visible content area behind it.

Re: FDM 3.8 BETA
No one download manager cannot fix server-side or connection problems. You should start with checking your antivirus/firewall/internet security software settings or talking to your ISP.Guest wrote:(...)when i download to 99% it cannot resuming download(Stop to downloading => 0 bytes),
(,...)when i download to 40% i receive error message and cannot continue download

Re: FDM 3.8 BETA
Thanks for such detail explanations.
- shortened text in a menu item's text,
- consistency in translation among other texts in a language translation, e.g.: English, and
- other people who see it the same way
IC. One thing that I still don't understand. The actual file extension in "URL" column is .mp4. However, the extension in "Title" column is .flv. So, does it the Flash player give wrong file extension to FDM, or FDM always default video file extension to .flv?Usher wrote:As I described earlier, it may be a problem only for some older video player that:

Yes, you're right. Actually, this suggestion is more like a "change directly from the source" style than "change by myself" one. I notice in the download flash video feature, the command's text is "Download with FDM"; it means that "FDM" is used instead of "Free Download Manager". I think, with this approach (shortening "Free Download Manager" text to "FDM" one), it would have, at least, three benefits:Usher wrote:All text strings are taken from lng files. Re: FDM 3.8 BETA
For regular downloads it is a matter of server-side redirections - you may click some link.php or url.aspx and download some zip or rar file.mahara wrote:One thing that I still don't understand. Full or shortened, the program name should not be translated. You use Microsoft Windows, neither Microsoft Okna nor Microsoft Fenstersmahara wrote: the command's text is "Download with FDM"; it means that "FDM" is used instead of "Free Download Manager". Re: FDM 3.8 BETA 2
thanks for the update to beta 2, build 1046.
Re: FDM 3.8 BETA
As I said in my post above, actually I'm talking about flash download in "Create flash video download", and not in regular download dialog. In regular download dialog, it would resolve the file extension automatically and correctly. But in flash download, it doesn't seem to resolve it as you mentioned.Usher wrote:For regular downloads it is a matter of server-side redirections - you may click some link.php or url.aspx and download some zip or rar file.
I don't honestly understand what you meant. I'm suggesting about shortening it, not translating it. A product name could never possibly translated; none that I've ever heard .Usher wrote:Full or shortened, the program name should not be translated. @Alex
Problem pending on 3.8.1046 (reported before and not fixed)
- Italian translation is quite old (22.12.2010). The new language file (23.06.2011) sent to you is not included in latest build.
- Is pending a problem about GUI (not english): "File" -"Import" -> "Imprort from other downlaod managers" remain in english also if the relative text string is available in language file

Re: FDM 3.8 BETA 2
Thank u soooo much!!! was just waiting for a update!!
Alex wrote:HI!
This version of FDM has a lot of changes. First of all it was built using the updated version of developing environment. There were made many changes in codes for this. Also it has some other additions and changes. We would like our users to test it before we could make the release version.

"ALT must be pressed" option dosn't work on me with IE9. I uninstalled and installed again and is the same.
I have version 3.8 beta 2 build 1046 on windows 7 x64.
Except this i'm a happy user of FDM since i discovered it. Thank you.

Re: FDM 3.8 BETA 2
Hi, thanks for great program!
I have found some bug in the last version 3.8 beta 2. Here is example:
1. I download torrent 10 gigs.
2. When it's on 5 gigs, I stop downloading to resume later.
3. When I start downloading, then... It rechecks whole torrent files, I can't even control PC for ~20 mins because of HUGE HDD and RAM using...
Same when I pass downloading, or lost connection (isp).
Please, fix it. Thanks.

You are right. There should be validated fields to fill in, not pull-down lists to select from.smartgig wrote:Please let us to be able to set the minute of time limit in addition to the hour too :
