What operation system do you use?

Windows 7 x64. Why? Did you try and successfully downloaded it on another OS using FDM3?

For me it took less than 8 minutes to download that file. It depends on peers available in a torrent client – if you have many torrents open in FDM, you have connections with many peers and many trackers so probably you will find needed torrent faster.

It's not about how long it takes to download it, but about how long it takes to start downloading. I have no torrents in FDM6 and it finds peers and starts downloading immediately. FDM3 takes forever to start downloading.

There's nothing to fix there. You can manually add trackers to magnet link. Links for trackers should be provided as values for tr request parameter and percent encoded. For example, here's your magnet link with two trackers (udp://retracker.local/announce and http://tracker.invalid:6969/announce)

As I said, other clients find peers immediately while FDM3 sometimes takes forever to find them.
I have tried your link and here is what I got

Code: Select all

6:49:27 28.09.2020 Connecting tracker... (udp://retracker.local/announce)
6:49:27 28.09.2020 Connecting tracker... (http://tracker.invalid:6969/announce)
6:49:33 28.09.2020 Failed to receive the valid response from the tracker. (http://tracker.invalid:6969/announce)
6:49:33 28.09.2020 d497c354518084e94301dc84b52f9eb12f28fe83 (http://tracker.invalid:6969/announce)
6:49:33 28.09.2020 (-1) Этот хост неизвестен (1)

It took me about 10 minutes to find peers and start downloading (actually it found peers after I have put your link into FDM6, so I guess it found me). Some torrent trackers are blocked in my country, perhaps this is the reason, but it doesn't prevent other clients to immediately find peers. So FDM3 is definately have some problems with finding peers if a tracker is unavaileble.

FDM 3.x on Windows XP and Vista may have problems with secure connections. It was mentioned more than once in last years.

It was total time of all actions. It took a few seconds to find torrent…

ROTFL!
That was an example of a valid syntax, but there weren't real tracker names. The first domain name must be supported by your local Internet provider (ISP), the second one is INVALID by definition.
Read Wikipedia, please (in Russian specially for you):
Поддержка ретрекеров через адрес retracker.local
https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/.invalid

It may mean that:
- You use other clients more frequently than FDM3.
- You have NO active torrent downloads/seeds in FDM3 for a long time.
- Your ISP supports retracker.local.
- You had more luck that time.

Stop blaming the old program, please, FDM3 won't be updated. The blame is on you - you may update any magnet link or your hosts file. It's really no problem to find some lists of active trackers and check if they are available for you.

- I don't use other clients at all
- That's true, so what? As I said, this is not a problem for other clients (I don't use them, just tested)
- Looks like my provider doesn't support retracker, no ping for retracker.local
- No luck. This is a constant behaviour

It's really no problem to find some lists of active trackers and check if they are available for you.
The blame is on you - you may update any magnet link or your hosts file.

it's just a workaround. not a solution. Other clients find peers fast automatically without any adjustments to links or files that a mere user shouldn't perform.

Stop blaming the old program, please, FDM3 won't be updated.

You are ignoring the poing. The problem exists - that's a fact, and I'm reporting about it. It's up to developers to fix it or not.

Hi,
I have been using FDM many years, and everything was working fine. However, files cannot be downloaded from some websites recently.

Step :
01. Use FDM to download this image (https://files.yande.re/image/f0db4dea4bfc50ab95780e0bc67eebd2/yande.re%20636981%20kuroneko_no_pei%20landscape.jpg)
02. The FDM display some errors :

In my country the whole yande.re service is blocked by internet provider, so I have tried to turn on VPN and succesfully downloaded it using FDM3. I guess it is not blocked by your provider, but maybe VPN will help you too. Ushel said previously that FDM 3.x on Windows XP and Vista may have problems with secure connections, perhaps this is your case, I dunno. Btw, can you download this file?

Which file? THP zip or Win7update torrent? I DID download torrent using FDM 3.9.7 in Windows XP - as you know.
Zip file is available only via HTTPS with cyphersuite unsupported by Windows XP (tls_ecdhe_ecdsa_with_aes_128_gcm_sha256). However, you can download it in XP using other download managers or browsers which fully support TLS 1.2 and its extensions, for example Firefox or some download manager using OpenSSL libs.

It is YOU who doesn't want to read older topics with explanations. The developers work only on FDM 6, they will NOT update older FDM versions. They DID state it more then once in the past.

If you don't want to use VPN/proxy or recommended workarounds, you can download FDM 3.9.7 source code and fix it on your own. It's free, it's Open Source, you are welcome to do it.

I'm talking about THPS file. I have told you I'm using Windows 7, so the problem is not in Windows XP.

Ok, since it is opensource, i'm reporting it in case SOMEONE would like to update it. Do you mind?

Upgrading form FDM 3.9.7 to latest (6.13.3)

Postby FG_Remastered » Thu Jan 28, 2021 10:48 pm

I'm now finally trying to upgrade from FDM 3.9.7 to the latest 6.13.3.

Is there a way to copy my settings and download history, so it works seamlessly?

I tried the export and import respectively, but it seems like the file formats have changed and the old one is no longer supported. Is there a way to fix that or do I have to do it manually? That wouldn't be a problem if it was just the settings, but the history, too.

Do I have to use an external tool or something? Please help. (Also, my apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I couldn't find it anywhere else.)

Hello,
Unfortunately, FDM6 can't import anything from FDM3 by the moment.

Hello,
Unfortunately, it seems we have not one. Can you provide some details about the issue you have? Do you think it's caused by FDM, or by the incompatibility with an old version of Firefox browser?

hello alex thanks for the reply.
i am unable to transfer download from chrome and firefox using fdm 3.9.x version. and on video web players there is no download button showing in firefox and in chrome the method of capturing flash video is not capturing flash videos may be it is due to change in algorithm like dash, ads and hls. kindly update browser extension and files in fdm folder that is responsible for capturing downloads and flash video from IE, egde, firefox and chrome.

this is not major update i am requesting this is just a minor modification.

thanking you

They already mentioned the as to why. YT are always changing their system to prevent downloaders. If you want such then getting a separate program to do that. Also rather then using Guest using your login will let people better address the problem.

How do tell old FDM v3.9.7 to keep the server's files' original dates and times in my new 64-bit W10 Pro PC?
