FDM 3.9.1 Release Candidate
Re: FDM 3.9.1 BETA
if i enable fdm plugin in firefox and i open fb games such as
http://apps.facebook.com/avengersallian ... _bmpos=1_2
firefox will become cripple whenever i hover my mouse over the flash area.
ive tried disable fdm plugin, and theres no problem running the game. so i think its not browser problem.
anyway to solve this? thanks

What is your FDM plugin version? And Firefox version?mono wrote:if i enable fdm plugin in firefox and i open fb games such as

Have you tried to disable only flash video monitoring in FDM?
Have you tried to leave FDM plugin enabled and disable other Firefox extensions?

FDM ver. 3.9 build 1249 was released today & supports newer browsers
Old one was FDM ver. 3.9 build 1252 was earlier in the month & doesn't support newer browsers
Also switching to this build looses all the downloads
(will a new beta will come assuming this is stable??)

3.8 was stable right so this has to be beta?
Re: FDM 3.9.1 BETA
It's 3.9 version bugfixed to be stable, and this topic is about 3.9.1 beta version. "New features" described on the download page are new in comparison with previous stable 3.8 version, not with current 3.9.1 beta.Guest wrote:FDM ver. 3.9 build 1249 was released today & supports newer browsers
Many programs are developed in more than one version at a time. Older versions have only security patches and bugfixes added while newer versions may contain also new features. For example Firefox 10.0.4esr is newer then Firefox 11 and as new as Firefox 12, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't (or can't) use Firefox 12, 13 beta or newer. The choice is up to you: want a stable base - use the lastest subversion of the older version; want new features - use newer versions, possibly unstable.

Thanks for that & will these fixes be rolled into beta too(very soon)
but its should have said 3.9.0 then
Re: FDM 3.9.1 BETA
Probbaly a better management of version numbering should help to clarify that and avoid request that are quite normal.
The current situation is
3.9.0.1249 latest offciial
3.9.1.1252 latest beta
Is it true?
But as most of the user expected 3.9.0.1249 support newer browser that 3.9.1.1252 don't support.
If it's true is a bad management oif version numbering.
If 3.9.0.1249 offer more option and is newer than 3.9.1.1252 the 3.9.0.1249 should be numbere like 3.9.2.1249 to clarify that is newer than 3.9.1.1252.

Re: FDM 3.9.1 BETA
In the homepage there is an error
Current stable version: FDM ver. 3.8 build 1249
FDM ver. 3.9 build 1249

Totally agree & also they should follow Firefox esque release channel

Yes.Guest wrote:The current situation is

Wrong. As I have explained earlier, "new features" in 3.9.0 are new in comparison with 3.8 version, not with 3.9.1 version. For example, FDM 3.9.1 beta versions support the same Firefox versions as FDM 3.9.0.1249, though they may be undeclared in install.rdf file in some older builds. It's normal for beta versions.Guest wrote:But as most of the user expected 3.9.0.1249 support newer browser that 3.9.1.1252 don't support.
You can check that plugin in FDM 3.9.1.1252 works also with Firefox 15, if you change
Code: Select all
<em:maxVersion>14.*.*</em:maxVersion>
Code: Select all
<em:maxVersion>*.*.*</em:maxVersion>
Wrong again. 3.9.2 version should be based on 3.9.1 and contain new features, including some features introduced in 3.9.1 version.Guest wrote:If it's true is a bad management oif version numbering.

In my opinion it should be 3.9.0.1259 number because build numbers should only grow. See Opera build numbers (sorted by date) for comparison:
Opera stable 11.52 build 1100
Opera next 12.00 build 1116
Opera stable 11.60 build 1185
Opera next 12.00 build 1191
Opera stable 11.61 build 1250
Opera next 12.00 build 1306
Opera stable 11.62 build 1306
Opera beta 12.00 build 1387
Opera stable 11.64 build 1403
Opera next 12.00 build 1424 etc.
If you want to learn more, you should read about developing in parallel branches - Linux kernel versioning, software version control systems (f.e. CVS, Subversion), etc. Some Wikipedia links for the start:
- Software versioning
- Revision control

Yes, you are right, but I'm not a webmaster and I can't fix it.
