I've been testing a few download managers, to replace IDM and found FDM on softpedia rated excelent (5 stars).
I tried and loved it, excelent interface, very nice and clean and didn't give any problems like a few others (leechget 2004...)
2 things need some work...
*Plugin for firefox (millions of people are already using this browser).
*Every time i start downloading, i've to open to open the program to see if the download started or not.
But it's a great program, stopped searching download managers :)

Agreed. I won't even try it until it works with Firefox.

Where did this program come from? I just uninstalled FlashGet and switched to FDM. It is awesome. Now I better hush before it goes shareware.
Thanks!

BTW...is there an option to have FDM close when download is complete? I can't find it.

An entire mozilla plugin is not needed. Cause of Downloadwith extension is
maybe more simple (and useful) to support command line tasks
("fdm.exe [URL]" open a new task and also fdm if not previously loaded...)

Download the patch for FDM at http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/fdm_operafix.exe. It'll add the ability for FDM to monitor FireFox for new downloads.

hi!

it's great app ! I have a question: I think FDM is heavilly inspired by Reget Deluxe (http://deluxe.reget.com) - by my favourite download manager before I found FDM ;) FDM implements Reget's features smarter, easier, faster and user friendly way and that makes it better than it's commercial rival ;). It's also fresh and lightweight.

And what very suprised me - FDM despite being young dm is very good in handling redirected download (Reget is champion in this I think) and that's very important for me !

Some features need to be tuned and added, but FDM is now great base for building great download manager ;)

One feautre I really miss - fdm has option to automatically delete completed downloads from list - that's good - but I need option to store this deleted downloads to something like history where I can find info about these downloads. Now there are filters that can be used to have different queries to db but this is not sufficient to me ;) I want to delete some downloads but option to return to them when I need ;)

sorry for my english ;)

Oh I forgot my question I mentioned - is it true that FDM is inspired by Reget Deluxe :?:

Ok, I installed it, but how does it work now? I've tested it with a single .exe-file but nothing happends. A little bit more explaination would be fine.

Seems that the 1.0 Final will be nice. But the final must have mozilla integration!

FDM works seamlessly with FireFox 0.9.2
