Who are you guys and why are you guys doing this?

Postby Guest » Mon Aug 08, 2005 10:27 pm

Sorry for the subject line but I wanted to get answers to these two questions. I have been a user of download managers for years, several come to mind that I have used with mixed results ...

- flashget (JetCar) (my favorite one of all times)
- bulletproof
- GetRight
- Go!zilla
- Dap
- TrueDownloader (while open source, I do not like the look and feel)
- Leechget (my lastest for the past two years but he broke the most recent version)

What sets you apart? Why are you doing it? Are you open source? What drives you guys to do this? Again, my apologies for all the questions but I think in answering these questions, it will show other new users of your product how passionate you are about it.

Excellent Questions. If you are bold enough to answer these then that solves all doubts about your intention behind such an excellent freeware and the doubts behind the recent introduction of a custom version.

But its been about a week since these questions were asked and still no sign of an answer. Now what does that mean?

This whole place looks like a bloody scam. I mean, the thing starts up your computer or internet whenever you tell it too (or suspiciously, whenever it wants), and it can also shut the system down.

Perfect for a hacker, from the looks of it.

The scheduling and shutdown features are (IMHO) two of the very best features of FDM. Any good download manager should have them.

Kudos to the development team for the fantastic work. :D

please would the authors of fdm tell this guest guy he what he wants to know. unless you are up to no good.
i already had one friend read this post after i referred him to your site and he is more wary of fdm now.

this thread is not doing fdm any favours.

What it means is that we have a lot of work - including the development of new versions of FDM ;-)

FDM was a venture project fully sponsored by VicMan Software. Right now it pays off by the following ways:
1. We earn money for creating custom solutions based on FDM engine - not the ones at custom.php, but more complexive ones.
2. We sell the FDM source code - we do this very rare, but take a lot of money for this

So what you can be absolutely sure of is that FDM (simple version available at this site) is not going to be:
1. Shareware
2. Adware/Spyware enabled

In past and in future we are going to promote with FDM O-N-L-Y our own products and services.

Hope I answered your question.

In addition, FDM has already been shareware (but under another name), but became freeware about a year ago. Check out this site:

Thank-you Victor, I was the original "guest" who posted this question. I understand you guys have been very busy which is why I didn't post a follow-up. I appreciate the work you guys are doing and will be removing leechget after a couple of years of use. Keep up the great work, I will be promoting this amongest my friends and family.

i agree, but then there is still some doubt in me that i dun understand

i've taken a look at some other"custom" branded FDM based dl managers, and they look almost the same

why would i want to go for other custom ones if i can get a better one without banner, ad/spyware from this very site www.freedownloadmanager.org?
