PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
Not only the extension fails randomly and has to be disabled, then re-enabled to get it to work again. Now, the extension is not catching clicks on sites it used to work just about a month ago. It's like it gets worse over time...
Someone please do something about it!!!!

Hi, this icon is not supposed to be there, it's been removed in the new releases.

FDM doesn't catch Google Drive downloads and doesn't accelerate their downloads
FDM v5.1.34
FF esr v52.7.3 (32bit)
Installed FDM and the browser integration is working, but FDM only appears as an option in the context menu and not in the download dialogue. So wen downloading video files from google drive, it doesn't catch the download link but instead an html file. I get around this by using the browser download utility (from the download dialogue that appears when clicking on the download link) and then copying the download link from their and manually adding it to FDM.
Then after doing all that, FDM starts the download but it doesn't use the accelerate feature. It only downloads the file in 1 part. I can tell because it doesn't use the whole bandwidth available when downloading, even on High setting (which is supposed to be unlimited) and also from the progress view that shows only 1 line progressing and not several lines at different spots of the pieces representation of the file. This behavior is not exclusive to Google Drive by the way, it's the same when downloading from ok.ru for example.
Is there a way to fix these issues?
Thank you

Yes, we know about the problem with Google Drive, it's on the list for the to-be-fixed things.
Some sites do not support multi-threading, this is why the downloads are in one thread. As a rule, there is a message in the log about this.
FDM intercept cookies or something
Hello, I love this app, been using it for years.
So I'm running Firefox 59.0.2 (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro (64-bit). Sometime when I'm on google drive or youtube, FDM would randomly push downloads of files that I presume is for the browser, like for an example :
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Hf68T ... 200-h630-p
That FDM download pop-up when I'm watching a Youtube video. I'm pretty sure this problem is from the FDM because it stops happening after I disable FDM add-on.
My FDM is 3.9.7 build 1638. While the add-on is Free Download Manager extension 3.0.3
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

You should update FDM extension and read the FDM FAQ before reporting problems, please.Hexxus wrote:My FDM is 3.9.7 build 1638. While the add-on is Free Download Manager extension 3.0.3

How do I update FDM extension for firefox? I've tried following all the steps in FAQ "How to fix broken FDM extension for Firefox installation?", but I still ended up with FDM extension 3.0.3 for Firefox (it's 3.0.11 for chrome).
But for now, the problem hasn't occurred anymore since I reinstall FDM, hope it stays that way.
Thanks.
Re: FDM intercept cookies or something
It's about classic xpi extension, and there are 2 pages of FDM FAQ now.Hexxus wrote:I've tried following all the steps in FAQ "How to fix broken FDM extension for Firefox installation?
WebExtension is a pretty new thing so it's described in the newest messages.

Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix the extension!!!
The extension fails to catch click on several sites, like:
Progettosnaps
softwareok
majorgeeks
etc.
on Thinkbroadband.com I can't download the test files, I get "access denied" errors. Other Download managers work perfectly (like XDM or eagleget). Even after changing the user-agent, no go.
I even installed (manually) the latest version (3.0.11) from the fdm5 installer, since updating it from the browsers itself didn't work. Still, with the latest version, it doesn't catch clicks on all sites.
PLEASE don't blame it on the new webext api or the new firefox, other download managers HAVE NO PROBLEM catching clicks on those same sites (like XDM, for example)
I've been reporting this issue FOR MONTHS now, and NOTHING has been done to fix it.
Please fix it!

Oh. And after I updated the extension to v3.0.11, it started dowloading random images (AGAIN!!!!). This problem was solved with v3.0.6.

Thanks for the report! We know that the expansion doesn't currently intercept from all sites. This issue is in the queue for correction.

I tried the test files on ThinkBroadband - no issues in catching them in FDM.
Also tried the following link at MajorGeeks (seeing as it has 2 links from author's site, 2 from MG, and one from GooglePlay)
http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/get/manictime,3.html
Only one that didn't get intercepted was the Google Play link - and that is normal.
So, it's not Fx's fault, it's not FDM's fault, and it's not anything else to do with my setup. So what is left to test?
FDM 5.1.35.7092 (fe70279)
Firefox Nightly 61.0a1 (2018-05-03) (64-bit)

Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
I suppose that @jvidalw still uses FDM 3.9.7 as it's not autoupdated, see the quote below:
And the problem with Thinkbroadband is not with FDM. It is the user that abused the server and was temporarily banned. The problem is clearly described no the download page https://www.thinkbroadband.com/download
I haven't tested other sites as the report doesn't contain info required by the reporting rules (FDM, Firefox and Windows versions/builds, download links to test, etc.). I'd like only note that:
- XDM uses a Java applet so it can't be compared with Firefox extension.
- Eagleget have two extensions - WebExtension and a classic one and there is no info which one was tested.

Re: PLEASE put up all FDM and Firefox problems here!
Let' see.
I had to downgrade the extension to v3.0.6. The random downloading of images stopped immediately.
Yes, I'm running v3.9.7. V5 sucks.
The problem on thinkbroadband.com ONLY happens to me with FDM, with other DMs it works perfectly.
The links not catched on Majorgeeks are the ones that link to majorgeeks, the external links (author's site) work.
In short: Please fix the extension's problems:
-Not catching clicks on several sites.
-Random downloading of images.
thanks!
PD: My specs:
Firefox 59.0.3 x64 on win7 x64. FDM 3.9.7 with webext 3.0.6.
Eagleget with webext (it's pretty obvious, since I'm using FF59)
I provided the sites where the extension doesn't work. pick any link on softwareok.com or progettosnaps.net , none works.
